I sing Japanese songs like "Heart Station" or "sakura drops" by Utada Hikaru, "private laughter" by bonnie pink.

I was surprised at how many English/American songs there are at Japanese karaoke places. I like ska punk and I thought it would be all chart music and pop but there was lots of choice, even from slightly less mainstream bands.

Yeah, I have a song called 'Meta Taro' stuck in my head and it's been stuck in my head on and off for the last couple of weeks. I'd probably do that. That said, when I last went to Karaoke I sung 'Spring of Life' with my mate - I was terrible at it but oh well, we all had a good time.

I sang [Alexandros] the HOT JRock band as of late in Japan. I'm a fan of their songs and my favourite song that I sang was Wataridori. I also sang a song by DaizyStripper (Visual Kei band) called Setsubou no Freesia, the OST song of Yu Gi Oh. Oh and of course Tohoshinki :D.

each time i'm going to karaoke in japan , i mix japanese song and english ;D ah ah but if i'm with japanese people they ask for french song cause i'm french but always it's old song ah ah XD. always so fun. In japanese song i always sing kato kazuki songs caus it's my favorite artist. after it's depend some tenimyu song, anime song. In english it's britney spears, christina aguilera, marron 5, aqua, linkin park :D

I'm from Vietnam,the girl said that she tried karaoke in Vietnam made me happy . Unlike Japan, karaoke songs in my country are just about Viet and English songs When in Japan, I would sing "Sayonara daisuki na hito" (I know it's a sad song but freaking easy lol) and some from drama which I can't remember their names

I'm basically Karaoke-addicted. If I get the chance to go, no matter who invites me, I'm gonna go. I usually start off with Moonlight Densetsu from Sailor Moon and no Karaoke is complete without Zankoku na Tenshi no These from Evangelion. I mostly sing Japanese songs (of course from Tokusatsu, being a Tokusatsu Otaku and all), but from time to time I sing something in German, very often musical songs or disney songs because I don't need the lyrics for that. 99 Red Balloons is always a big hit with everyone- until I end my performance that this is actually a super-sad song about war xDDD I do practice the songs I want to sing at home because I hate to screw up the tune or lyrics. Which is why I don't like Karaoke in Germany that much, because people tend to goof off so much- it's okay when they do that in their own performance because they're embarassed or something, but if people distract you from singing or joke about it if you're really into it, it always feels kinda rude and does take some of the fun out for me. It's okay if you're not the best singer, as long as you put your heart and passion into it. And if everyone goes with it, that's more fun that just laughing about it :)

Western people seem to enjoy karaoke because it's all just for fun and no one is really trying to be good singers. Some even try to purposely sing out of tune, just to yuck it up. But most of the people I know in Japan take it way too seriously. They go after work and practice so that they'll be really good the next time they go out. There's good in it either way, I suppose, but based on my experience, they enjoy it for different reasons.
