NHL teams represent their city, not the country. Media just loves to hype things up. As far as Nationality, VGK was the most Canadian team in the league last year. 18 were Canadians, out of 24. With these two teams in the finals, regardless of what country their city happens to be in, just look at the prominent players. McDavid, RNH, Bouchard, Hyman, Kane, Foegele, Nurse, etc.. 12 of their top 14 guys are Canadian including the goalie(exceptions being Drai and Ekholm). For Florida, only 6 of their top 14 guys are Canadian.

Not to mention we’ve got 4 players leading the playoffs in scoring and skinner might have figured it out. Only way oilers win is if skinner from the wcf shows up and even a bit better

And while that's true, he's still having a relatively solid playoffs, considering he's been injured all season. Good depth scoring at half a point per game, and did a great job of neutralizing Zadorov's game as the series went on.

You’re not wrong this year but it was just 2 playoffs ago where he had 2 hat tricks against the kings in the first round and had like 10+ goals the first time the oilers made it to the WCF. He has been a huge part of this team in the postseason and even through injury he will play a big role in the intangibles for this final.

It does in ways, and not in other ways imo. I Mcdavid was a ghost in every playoffs, I'd say a cup matters. The way he plays in the playoffs though, it doesn't matter to me.

It adds something to an individual players legacy and their greatness, obviously the organization has to make the right moves around you as well it all intertwines together, McDavid is clearly a generational talent with or without a cup but hes been on talented teams and now he's on the biggest stage and performing on the biggest stage equates to an aspect of greatness, when you start having top 10 all time debates you know what every one of these players are gonna have in common? They all have cups/championships depending on the sport you make a list in basketball it's the same thing they all have rings. Also another thing I think gets lost in this generation is the meaning of greatness and being part of the greatest to ever play, this generation calls someone different a GOAT every day but when you're mentioned with the greatest of all time you can only name a short list of players and again they all are champions. As far as Matthews he's come up short and he's been surrounded by a ton of talent, have the leafs made all the right moves? No but he's had talented enough teams to at least have made a conference finals by now and part of it is his fault and right now you can't mention him with the greatest players of all time

The desire to win is much greater for the Oilers than for the Leafs! When a team play the same game in season than in playoff, its weird and disappointing.

Take oilers start out of it and Oilers were Best team in the NHL Florida 2nd best team. Heck even before Knoblauch was coach take just the 1st 10 games off not 18 and Oilers were the best Panthers 2nd best. On paper these teams are very evenly matched oilers slightly better. In regular season and playoffs. Over the past 6 seasons both teams are 6-6. Oilers players have a long history with Tkachuck and Bennett. Perry knows Florida well from his time in Tampa. It's playoffs anything can happen but this is far closer match up than most people think.

I watched a lot of florida, dallas, NYR and avs games as I was excited for playoffs. Always watch the enemy. Ive watched every game in playoffs minus 3 games only 50%. Will miss hockey when its done :(
