Botgrinder demonstrated some impressive penetration of HDzero in 540p90fps mode. He ended up with a failsafe of the ELRS (at 150Hz!) but still had usable video whilst sat on the ground.

I failsafe ELRS and had HDzero video. But was whoop with copper antenna inside

I'll be lazy too 😂 - I'm waiting 4 my HDZero VTX kit comin in from China now. It is U dear Mr. Bardwell who explained the different systems, which made me go Divimath, HDZero hep hep 😊

You're not alone in feeling the difference. Although I've experienced this in reverse. I've been flying analog and HDZero since I started flying. It's been the only thing I knew. I could still feel the difference going from 720p 60 to the 540p 90 when that came out. Around that time, I also got the Walksnail standalone to connect to my HDZero goggles. Well, I finally got around to putting that into a new quad and was amazed by two things. 1. the Image was awesome, compared to what I was used to. 2. I could FEEL every ounce of that variable latency. And while I was amazed at the picture, I was like, how do people fly like this???? I immediately felt like a worst pilot. Instantly. And to give the perfect example, there are some trees in the area I usually fly around. I've accidently snagged ghost branches a time or two and almost always been able to correct and fly out before crashing when I was flying HDZero, especially with the 90. Walksnail? Yeah no. I hit one branch, not even that hard, and the entire screen just spun. I heard the quad smack into the ground before I could even try to correct the spin. I didn't even disarm until it was well on the ground. I know for a fact I've corrected spins like that on HDZero. No chance on Walksnail, next time I'm just going to disarm and not even try... there simply isn't a point. Being constantly behind the quad so to speak you'll never be able to put in the finite corrections you need to pull it out of disaster.

i'm so torn, because i just want to fly freely as far as i can, but i also care a lot about being able to save my quad. i am frequently disappointed by HDZero's range in videos (i'm still running analog) the breakup is more familiar, i'm not convinced it's better, but being able recover more often is important. i think i'll keep waiting for HDZero to get a bump in performance, or go Walksnail. i'm not ready to spend my money on a slower link, or on shorter range.

@@xymaryai8283 if you're still running Analog then there is no reason not to switch to HDZero, unless you are flying long range with one of those 2.5 watt transmitters. The break up is the break up. It's cliche to say "you'll get used to it" but you do. Just like you got used to analog break up. It's the exact same break up just looks different. If you fly aggressive freestyle in close proximity to objects and like flying new and different sites, that 90 cam on HDZero is seriously a game changer. You'll be significantly more confident as you take lines and shoot gaps because of how locked in the quad feels. I always say it's like gaming on a 60hz screen then getting a 120hz one. Not only do you instantly become better, you feel better, faster, and more accurate. Walksnail to me has it's place. If I'm going to be putting a bunch of barriers between me and the quad for some dumb reason, then yeah, the penetration on the walksnail system is better. But I'm not going to be flying close proximity aggressive freestyle with it either.

Walksnail module even on HDZERO goggles gives even higher latency than O3 so latency should be somewhat better on dedicated goggles

@@combinacijus actually the latest tests from MadsTech seems to show that gap has narrowed considerably with firmware updates

HDZero is totally my daily driver. I have it on almost all of my quads now and I love it.

@@SmartContractHaxor I have a Mobula 6 HDZero, a Demibot freestyle drone I built with the Freestyle V2 and the nano 90 camera, a Tiny Trainer V2 I built using a Whoop Lite kit, and three Open Racer frames I built with the Race V3 VTX and Nano 90 camera.

@@Loki_FPV666 thanks for the reply. So I have a mobula 6 analog, and I heard the HD zero mobula 6 is less maneuverable. How has your experience been with it? If the camera quality is that much better, it’s probably worth it?

@@SmartContractHaxor I feel like it's plenty maneuverable just a little heavy. I've even raced with it and didn't have any trouble getting through the course. The picture quality is hands down better than analog. The extra weight is less noticeable on a Mobula 7 size whoop but I like my Mobula 6 just fine.

Hdzero with the low latency is for a certain type of pilot, mainly analog pilots or racers. If you dont fly hard freestyle or race the latency with something like Dji won't really even be noticable. Looking at someone like Mr steel who fly's so hard and fast he will force that latency on something like Dji.

If I could just get the same level of signal penetration as analog, I'd already be using HDZero, but even a $15 analog VTX will let me fly my entire front and back yard. (and then some) HDZero has me blind if I go to the back. Then there's Walksnail getting me 42Mbps in the same spot.

@@lolmetyuri Nah, I was using some nice TrueRC antennas on both. I know my house is slightly harder to transmit through than average, but everything else still handles it fine.

I know this is an older comment but you should probably check settings and or your antennas. My tiny whoop regularly gets flown on the other side of buildings with only mild breakup.

For me I use Hdzero for close/medium range freestyle and DJI for everything else. Can't beat the connected feeling while flying Hdzero.

I like HDzero the breakup i can fly thru not freezing. And comes back instantly. Vs ive gotten black screen on DJI. Ive gotten close on walksnail failsafe but havent yet. But im slowly switching to walksnail. DJI makes new stuff and i just feel like u are a little forced into buy the new old being discontinued. Will new goggles support vista and o3. With new o4 work on old goggles. Will i lose my wtfos if i get o3 firmware on v2 goggles?

I did not hear it from Joshua but I think my main complaint about HDZero it that the smaller VTX are limited to 200mW. For my single HDZ lite VTX penetration sucks and it is prone to interference snowstorms. That said maybe something is wrong with my vtx? If new unit on order suffers same I am gone from the system. Also, want HDZero to offer a better lens for their HDZ nano lite camera. Something that can compete with the Caddx Nebula Pro Nano. Add some more weight for all important image quality.

I've tried to like hdzero, but for me its got too much breakup for me to consider it, the breakup is what i'm trying to get away from in analog, so i'm not trying to spend a bunch of money to upgrade when i still get breakup that ruins my confidence. I'm much more comfortable flying walksnail when the breakup only shows up when you are really far away or behind a building. HDzero systems get breakup sometimes when you are 5 feet from the receiver, which I don't understand at all.

At least I’m not the only one giving up their Caddx systems. I’m also lazy with the need to change to the latest and greatest but it’s also a financial situation also.

I've only put 03 on 2 small quads that are too light to carry a GoPro. If the quad carries a GoPro ok, Vista is plenty good for me. Hell, I fly at least 50% analog anyway, between whoops and horrible attempts at racing😂

I'm slowly changing to caddx walksnail. I want to put moonlight in my 8" maybe 5" LR drones.. wonder if I can use flywoo naked o3 kit on moonlight to naked it. Worst case I have light copper heatsink I can add for extra cooling I used on rc car

@@Halphbaked210 the 1W mode of the freestyle 2 vtx has enough range and penetration imo. Might not be as good as DJI, but I flew a few bandos with it without any problems

I used HDZero, more than 95% of my flights are races. The more I fly the better it feels, my reaction time is less. I’m now able to feel the difference between 90 fps vs 60 fps.
