What would you do if a hungry child asked for help?
We filmed children walking up to adults who were eating at a Farmer's Market and asking them for food. Every single adult offered to give or buy the child something to eat.
Our campaign aims to remind viewers that just because the child isn't standing directly in front of you it doesn't mean they're not out there and it doesn't mean they don't need your help.
Please consider donating to the PBC Food Bank in the Great Give on May 5th & 6th. www.pbcfoodbank.org

I disagree. Some kids have really severe food allergies. Ask them first if they have any and if they would accept food/help from you. Then let the feeding commence. Then find the parent who lost their child.

I still remember years ago visiting Mexico a young man offered to clean my windshield. I told him it was clean and I didn't need it cleaned. He said he is just hungry and needed the money for food. I gave him money and told him he doesn't need to clean the window. He was very hungry because he RAN to the food stall nearby and got some food immediately!

There is also really fucked up people here that are selfish and use people here, don't respect any of others people than themselves... You must have encounter one these persons. At one point in my childhood my family fell into poverty and we often didn’t have anything to eat, like, it was normal for my dad to come home and say “we won’t have money for food for the next week”. Me, my sister, and my two brothers often had to rely on charity food, and seeing this video really reminded me of that.

This happened to me about a year ago. Different scenario it was a poor kid smelled terrible dirty clothes. I was in big lots at the moment. I saw him take bread and peanut butter. I followed him around the store. Through the midst i was going to buy big bag of chips and those 2 liter soda. But instead i walked up to the kid and said do you have money and are you hungry. At first he stared at his feet for 5 min and said i'll put the stuff back. Then I stopped him again and told him the same question. He replied i have no money and yes im really hungry. I even heard his stomach growling. I had 20 dollars atm. I put back the junk food i was going to buy and offered to pay for his food and give him the rest of my money. I saw a smile on his face that was pricrless while he hugged me. Even though I had a horrible stench after it felt rewarding. Not only did I help someone I helped myself from my weight problem. I went from 294 pounds too 175 pounds now im going to become a junior in high school now i have a little more confidence

thank you :) starving kids cannot help how bad they smell. I was one myself. I'm glad you helped out. :) I stole food too, just not from stores, but from gardens. I was always climbing into dumpsters looking for food so I knew I smelled bad, but I got used to it. In order to have a safe place to sleep, I preferred to sleep in dog houses outside houses with dogs and eat dog food without anyone from the house finding out what I was doing. The dog I picked each time was warm and cuddly and the doghouse kept me dry from rain. But I figured out that to be accepted by the dog, and be let into the doghouse by the dog, I had to smell like a dog, and so I decided to rub the poop of the dog that was lying in the yard all over myself to smell like a dog. Sometimes I did dog body language like roll around in dog poop, stick up my rear end in the air to wag my tail and jump around on all fours. Then the dog let me into the doghouse and adopted me and licked me and cuddled with me. I had dogs and doghouses across the city that I slept in outdoor doghouses with. So my scent was more intended to make me acceptable to dogs who like the smell of poop and garbage and not humans (who raped me and tried to kill me all the time). also my mom who trafficked me and treated me as a slave specifically said the rapists didn't like it when I smelled bad so I hoped to get rid of them and stop them from raping me with the awful smell. which didn't work at all. because they still chased me around town and raped me anyway. but yeah if I ever asked anyone for food, they were angry and said no a lot and said I was dirty. occasionally they said yes. They mostly said no despite me starving and living on dog food and things I stole from gardens and things I found in the trash and wormy apples in the public park. I'm glad I survived the starvation and the torture and I am an adult now and I can eat whenever I want. :) I'm a vegan. :) People complain about my small size or make fun of me for being petite but I just explain I was starving as a child and living outdoors a lot. I'm just glad to be alive. :) It's fine to wear size 0 and be close to 5 feet tall and a little over 100 pounds as an adult if you were seriously malnourished and struggling each day to survive as a little girl. I'm happy with it. I fit well into airplane bathrooms and caves so exploring the world is made easier by my small compact size. It's great to not be covered in poop and garbage anymore too. :) yay.

@@housephone5292 - I appreciate what you do. You are doing whatever is possible by you. I don't know how LONG and how MUCH individuals like us can support. But we what is needed is MUCH much more than we do. I wish that some governments, organisations, religious entities and rich can do more. There are two things to be done. One group help those who cannot support themselves like invalid, sick, children (orphaned or otherwise) handicapped, blind, aged etc. Second group to whom we need to be LIBERAL and KIND-HEARTED and help the able-bodied people to EARN themselves by giving a job to them, so that they can support their families. This second group of people DON'T need CHARITY but work and a little bit of liberal wages. What happens now is accumulation of millions/ billions of wealth for themselves (and their families) and NOT sharing like I mentioned above to the two groups. God has categorically told the rich CANNOT go to heaven. (I think God dislikes greedy rich). The BEST way is (in addition to following good principles) to keep a LITTLE bit of money for themselves, share the rest of money (OR food, as that is what God meant, that is, sharing the food with hungry/ poor) with everybody (on an on-going basis, if the income is recurring one), so that heaven is WITHIN rich's REACH.

We all think that when someone is wearing a fancy dress that they're rich, and if someone is wearing dirty clothes then they're likely to be homeless. That's just how most people in the video think, and I'm just pointing out why the kids couldn't get the food.

In my school there is a thing called " food for my hungry neighbors " In that on every Wednesday students bring various food items and submit it to the CASET department and then they give that food to the people who r hungry.... Our school principal , some teachers and even one student from each class ( from 7th grade to 10th grade from each section...we have four section for each class ) go with them and distribute food to ur hungry neighbors ... I'm really happy to be part of such school... I passed class 10 from that school I've spent 13 years of joy in that's school from nursery to 10th grade....my school taught me how to a good human being ...

I help kids all the time at work. I buy them all sorts of food. One lady had restored to counting $15, all in change, in our break room. She had her two kids, I went and bought cookies for the kids. Cause all kids should have cookies in the pantry. I see kids counting their change, I won't even let them pay and will buy it myself. I had one boy who would come in the store and specifically look for me so I could buy him candy. One teen employee had asked for money for food. So I bought him food. He always came up to me for food after that. I had other kids and teens coming up to me asking for food, cause they knew I would pay, no questions asked. I'm flat broke, and no kid will ever go hungry around me.

Even if I don't need the product or service that they're selling I'll just give them $5 or $10 just to encourage them because starting entrepreneurship at a very young age is what made me into the entrepreneur I am today.

+jose lopez ...They did look a bit clean and the other girl was wearing braces (braces are a bit expensive our 3rd world countries) should have told them to wear some dirty ragged clothes or something to make it a bit realistic. I mean even I would'nt be fooled by that, the homeless kids in our country even learnt how to fool people by hinding the stuff they have and begging for more making them look like they received nothing. Still though you are right they are a bit selfish but there are 2 sides to every story

The little girl with braids is she for real? She is so adorable..how could anyone deny giving her food. Looks like the people certainly could be more receptive.

I'm hungry right now, but I would still give my last dollar, to make sure a child doesn't have to be.

Alex walker yeah me too. Because over the last couple of days iv been watching a lot of these "what would you do videos" and from what I've seen so far is more people stand up and help out "black people" or people of color rather than white people.

Our poor kids. These are our children. This happens all over the country. It’s the worst.

Definitely feed the child first .. Sit with them while they eat and strike up a conversation.. Find out if they’re alone in this world or where their parents are ..

not bragging or anything, i myself is poor, but i fed a hungry kid about two weeks ago. 1 pc chicken, 2 rice and a mountain dew, and it felt really good. i saw that gratefulness on his face.
