hi everybody its Kathy Frey here from mother wise and welcome to another within our podcast great to have you guys here today and the topic is being around that 35 36 weeks pregnant so you've only got about a week or so to go until you are fully term 37 weeks all cooked turkey timer pot and then anywhere from that 37 to 42 weeks is a normal time to go into spontaneous labor so remember before 37 weeks is premature labor giving birth to a preterm baby and anything after 42 weeks is posted dates all right so what are the things that you need to be thinking about at this time of course I will be doing I always have a longer version of each topic usually about a 25 minutes sometimes 30 minute we've been hour on topics for as part of our mother wise master class out in a circle group and I'll include a link on you as to how you can join that through our essential basics but what I'm going to give you here is a short little overview which will still be very useful okay so the first thing is that you want to be thinking about from particularly from 35 weeks onwards is your fetal movements so that is you want to know that your baby is moving well and rickielee and you know they used to be a system of sort of saying having a kicker chart and knowing that once you've had 10 kicks and 24 hours rest and peace it's all good don't need to worry we sort of have refined things a bit more over the years since then so because some babies are just always very active and some babies are just not quite so active and it's still normal for them so we really kind of talk more these days about a change of movements from what's normal for your baby and we are talking of sets of movements so if you feel the baby kick it's not one two three four five five movements that still added it up as one set of movements did it is another set of movements okay so um certainly if you are getting ten sets of movements within a 24-hour period then you know that does provide some reassurance but if more importance as there been a dramatic change so a baby that usually is you know has a one or two times during the day when he or she gets particularly tense to be she's get quite active at that particular time but now she's not getting active at that time or maybe you've got a baby who is always moved untold all the time and then it goes a bit quiet you know you might still be getting ten movements in 24 hours but you used to get fifty movements and now you're only getting twelve you know so it's that change now if you had that change the important thing that needs to occur is that you need to have that baby assistant and generally by a CTD or karyotype gram when they put the belts around your belly and do a little trace of baby's movements and they want to see the reactivity of baby's heart make sure there's no decelerations going on and you know usually sort of twenty or thirty minutes on the traces it does provide quite good reassurance again it's about movements changing or the other thing that is a bit of a red flag is if your baby does is the most incredible dramatic flurry of movements almost like a panicking of movements and then the baby goes pretty quiet that's another time it would be a very good idea to have a seat eg and with any kind of reduction of movements it is best to have this etj they've done is that day okay don't leave it till the next day but one of the very frustrating things that women continue to do is to wait till the very end of the day it's now 8 o'clock at night and then they say oh the baby hasn't moved all day so it is important that you make that contact but you know don't hesitate to do it a little bit earlier and the day so that if you have an on-call Midwife you know she's not just finally bunkered down for the night finish today and yeah it's just to go back out again you know when you might have been out when you've actually been worried for the last three hours and it could have run her at four o'clock you know that so so don't hesitate to make the call if you know that there's something not right okay and so the other things that you should be knowing at this time is when it is appropriate to call your Midwife or tune up at the hospital once you're in Armstrong labor make sure that you've
