This is my cons: -non competitive pay. It’s very mediocre compared to others like UPS. -mandatory rescues. When I’m done with my route I’m done. -Apartments!!!!! I delivered to apartments for the first time and I hated it!!!!!! Back and forth between the package room and front door because some cx want front door delivery and others want package room delivery Other than those above I truly enjoy it. The tranquility of driving in peace seeing difference scenes. Chef’s kiss. My DSP is alright. We’re not on Amazon vehicles at this moment so the rules he mentioned above regarding the stop sign and yellow traffic lights are not something they’re on our backs yet however my DSP mention getting the vans within the next month so that’ll be interesting

I deliver in Florida. It's okay - not the worst job I've had. The camera watching me all the time is what i hate the most. I drive only the regular transit van. Organizing your bags is important. Apartment complexes suuuuck. I agree, the rules are too much sometimes. It's a simple job but can be frustrating in the beginning when you're figuring out your routes

Great video man. Thanks for being so clear on things. I tend to do rolling stops when I drive my personal vehicle so that will be an important adjustment for me. Interview on Tuesday! My biggest concern is how EXACTLY do you organize your packages? Which labels/numbers do you pay attention to?
@DrivewithJo
@DrivewithJo 9 ай бұрын
No problem man. Great question, i was planning to do that video soon. But i use the driver aid numbers in descending order. So for example, the package have B-22 1G DRIVER AID 1885, i make sure i have all the B-22 1G on the shelf then organize those. I would unpackage two bags as well to save time. Overflows i also organize with the B-22 1G then descending order. Be sure to subscribe and turn in the bell so when i do that video you will see it. All the best in your interview!!!

I delivered for Amazon for a year. And honestly. Probably one of the better jobs I’ve had in my life. The pros to me would be the alone time you have. Just you and a van full of packages. The work itself wasn’t terrible but everything else was. The pay, mediocre compared to other services. The management is a hit or miss, I was fortunate to be part of a great DSP but I’ve heard the horror stories. Routes were also hit or miss, I delivered to coastal towns so it was easy. But those who were stuck with apartment buildings are definitely heroes. Turn over rate is crazy, 2-4 new people every 2 weeks. So definitely not for everyone but those who stick around definitely deserve better wages. For my area, $19.75 is okay but still on the lower end from what FedEx or UPS offers.

I was printer service tech previously, I think this job comes down to knowing your city so you can deliver in an efficient manner. I used to have to do the same but not just deliver but also repair printers at different location or perform maintenance. I thought this DSP isnt a bad gig but I cant work with camera in my face all day. Even when I worked for the City we never had cameras, you could put up your own if your like but Union wouldn't allow them to do that just GPS. the invitation of privacy at work all day is a bit extreme too bad. Benefits depends on if the company provides any. We do get two 15 minutes break. You have the option to take 30 minutes without pay. As it relates to bathroom this is one of the biggest struggle. At the end of the video it looked extremely cluttered and almost like you had 0 room to actually organize those packages for your stops? I feel like that can be very frustrating especially in the beginning right? Trying to sort your packages and have them lined up correctly to correlate with your stops. Having to dig around and hunt for a package takes away a lot of time and will lead to longer days. How to combat that and have everything organized already when approaching? I mean you literally had 0 room to move in that truck back there. Meaning if you needed to get to a certain crate at a stop you’d have to first remove like 5-6 crates just to look and find a single package. Or am I missing something?
@DrivewithJo
@DrivewithJo 9 ай бұрын
Good question. Yes those vans can be small and of course it can be frustrating. But when i get those vans i prioritize my first set of stops and then after i would have space. For a new driver they would probably want to give up but im almost there for two years. The roughest part is getting a rental van that have no shelves so you can't organize or nothing as you would with a regular delivery van
