If carrying a firearm concealed is a privilege, them open carry of a firearm should be a Right. They can't have it both ways. The 2nd Amendment says "TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS." To keep the, that is in your home or business. To bear arms is to carry.

CCW being a privilege is the fundamental reason why these laws are unjust. So I can carry to protect myself _at home_ is what they allow? I'd rather have my firearm when others are most likely a danger to me. I love your explanations and run throughs my man. Even though I live in California, they can get f*cked about their tyrannical laws.

Jordan K you still have to store your firearm at home in a certain way so if something does go down and you have to reiterate the incident they’ll try to find ways to get you. Not to mention, the intruder’s family will sue you and tell the media how good their family member is lol

It’s good to note that since it’s up to the sheriff, certain counties are very pro 2A while others are very anti gun. So with that said sometimes it’s very easy to get your CCW in CA and other times it’s not depending on which County you live in. Orange County is very pro 2A and I made a video on this if anyone is interested in learning how to get your ccw in Orange County.

Yes completely dependent on the sheriff in place. Every county is subject to change depending on who is in the position of power.

Unfortunately, not any more. I applied in 2019, I was told my cause was good. Did my CCW permit course. Then suddenly, they started requesting more and more bullshit. In the end I was told that CCW permit requirements has changed, and I was recommended to withdraw my aplicacion, otherwise it was going to be denied (meaning, I won't be able to apply anymore). So Orange county Sheriff department DOES NOT issue CCW permits without a major cause anymore...

One last thing. While we were doing the shooting aspect for the CCW in California, which was all day for new guys or 4 hours for renewal. The trainers who are law enforcement officers, are constantly observing you and talking with you. During lunch break, they continue chatting with you, just finding out a little more about you. At the end of the day, the officers sign off on your application and, as I found out later, make a small notation on some of the applications. This is to signal sheriffs office personnel who gets a permit and who shouldn’t! Interesting...they never tell you, but many applicants are just wasting their money on the entire process as costs are not refundable.

My local PD CCW was close to $1,000 by the time I was done! Filing fees, live scan fees, phyc eval, class, range, more fees. it was very pricey. the renewal after 2 years was about $350. It's crazy. this should be $20 for a 5 year.... well.... it should be free forever! Thank you for the video! Please keep em coming!

If you want your CCW in California. Move to the valley. Modesto, Turlock, Oakdale, Manteca Stockton area. They give them away just because its your right. And if your wondering there are many jobs here and lower home cost.

I'm in the process now. Gun owner for 15 years, very proficient with all of my firearms. My wife is law enforcement. I am a business owner that carries very expensive equipment and cash on a daily basis. I have a solid, law abiding history with zero history of anything. I live in San Diego and I am currently waiting 13 months until my interview. Yes, we can get CCW's in CA, but they make it difficult. :(

I live in the County and applied for my CCW. I'm an owner of a business and I carry a lot of cash, that was one of my reasons, but because it was initially for my business I had to get approval from the president of the company who happen to be my wife. She didn't make me beg too much.

Orange County is great, they are over 96% approval I was told. Sheriff Barnes has regular meeting on Securing houses of Worship and among other items the policy for issuing CCWs to protect House of Worship. You still have to give cause and pass background. He also ran partially on the fact that he would issue CCWs as prior Sheriff Sandra Hutchinson did.

@@hector4072 I wasn't interviewed. I just went there and got fingerprinted. And then waited for the call if I passed the background check. Once they give the OK. You can do the CCW class.

Great video, I live in OC and went through the process as well. Question, can you do a video on what the purpose of the California Handgun roster. Basically does it serve a positive purpose in any way? 10 rd magazine restrictions, ok, I get it, I guess. 10 day wait period on receiving your firearm after the clearing the background check, ok, I get it. 1 Handgun per month, wow, but ok. Background check to purchase ammunition, holy smoke, but ok again. But this California Handgun roster? I seriously don't understand how that benefits anything? Can you do a video on that? Like most GC measures it was incremental. It started as a safety roster, meaning the guns were subjected to various tests, such as a drop test, to make sure the handguns wouldn't accidentally discharge if dropped. This was in the era of the Saturday Night Special. Think of it as a UL certification. Once that was in place, the legislature incrementally increased the requirements to get on the roster (loaded chamber indicators, magazine disconnect safety). The final nail in the coffin was a microstamping requirement which no manufacturer can or will comply with. Thus we are stuck with the firearms that are grandfathered. I am just the messenger, but that's how it happened.

I know this is an older thread but I just started the process for my ccw in San Bernardino county and I'm wondering about the background check. Is it California only or is it federal ? if you're going through the San Bernardino Sheriff you don't need character letters. Overall the process wasn't too bad and to my surprise was done in about 3 months.

In CA whether you can get one or not depends on what county you live in, how rich you are, and what political connections you have. Good luck getting approved in the Bay Area buddy system.

I was denied in Ventura county. Even though I’m licensed through the state to carry my firearm at work (exposed permit), armed security. Apparently my character is not “moral” enough. So my character is moral enough while I am carrying my loaded firearm while I am protecting businesses and protecting the people in them but I cannot protect myself while at the grocery store? My character turns immoral when I am not at work apparently! Fuck California. I’m done begging for my rights. I’m done living with the people who defend their heinous violations of the constitution and I will not beg for my rights. I will simply leave this state.

I took a 5 hour class and paid $75 for the class,fingerprinted,background check,and picture. After I put In the paper work and finished the class, I waited about 6 weeks and got my ccw. So in my state as long as you have about $100 and a clean record and can fog a mirror then you get to carry concealed.

something I have wondering about and have found conflicting info on: CA penal code 26150.b.2 "Where the population of the county is less than 200,000 persons according to the most recent federal decennial census, a license to carry loaded and exposed in only that county a pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person." My question is, if I live in a county of less than 200,000 can I carry concealed with a license or does it have to be "loaded and exposed"?

Yes. if you have a California CCW it allows carry throughout the state. That is they insanity of the law. Residents of certain counties can't carry in their own county but residents of other counties can carry in others that won't issue a CCW.

Yes. You can carry anywhere in California besides specified government locations.

First offense is a misdemeanor, second offense is a felony...assuming you were not committing any other crimes while in possession. IE your only "crime" is carrying a lawfully owned firearm. The hypocrisy on that is lost on those tyrants.🤦‍♂️ As always, subject to change. In 2019 Commiefornia tyrants enacted 15 anti-2A laws. Simple answer is: Don't get caught. It's quite literally impossible to get my CCW where I live. I'm a good moral standing person with a legitimate need for my CCW, but nevertheless...denied. Having been a victim multiple times and having health issues and needing to protect myself was not "good enough" a reason. $350 down the shitter. The Commiefornia's policies are a fucking joke. Tyrants will always rule your Rights are privileges and make you beg for a taste of your Rights a little bit at a time.

From my experience and from the experience from people I know, long story short, it depends on the county if they’re 2A friendly or not. I know people who work as security (where they open carry) and are ex-military, and their CCW app was still DENIED... (Bay Area, not surprisingly...)

You can also carry in you have a retired law enforcement Officers permit to carry from any state. They are federally recognized.

I actually just read on the Sonoma county California page that Due to a recent court case stating that good cause is unconstitutional, they are no longer requiring good cause for a CCW.

Unless the sheriff of your county or Chief of Police somehow restricts the CCW to "County Only" the name of the license is "License to Carry Concealed Pistol, Revolver, or Other Firearm Within the STATE of California."

I had a CCW permit in California and the only reason Was able to obtain one was because I was the President of a bank up in Humboldt County and the Sheriff even helped me complete the application. Once I retired, we moved out of California to a Constitutional state that does not require permits. Without that professional title, I most likely would not have gotten a permit! Comí-Kalifornia!

2A is extremely clear that all citizens can carry firearms, when reading other letters and papers (ie. Federalist 28) from the time, it is also extremely clear this was applicable to both open carry or concealed carry, and that those weapons could be anything the military used, including examples of store owners using field cannons as an example retorting people saying "what you want a tank?" yes that was covered under the @A by letters from the founders. How is it that so many unconstitutional laws now exist in the USA?

You have no idea how much your doing for society. My wife, 5’ 6” 105 lbs with weak muscle structure is completely helpless against any serious attacker. Not likely she’ll be able to overcome or stop that threat without a tool like a firearm. I love her more than life and my son needs his mom. I’m working on getting her to work for a ccw in Ca. I get so worried about her when I’m not with her. Drives me insane. Thank you

AG 2022 In the video Armed Scholar stated in the video, it’s dependent on your local county/PD wether or not you’re allowed to carry large capacity magazines. It also may dependent on firearms laws changing hopefully for the better in California.

Hi my Ccw got expired a few years back, and at the time was not thinking on renewing it however I one night left a restaurant where I had a couple of drinks no gun in me or Ccw(it was expired) however long story short I get pulled over and get charged a wet and reckless I didn’t not know I had to inform the local sheriff even though it was expired and at the time was not going to renew But since then I have changed my mind and would like too see how to go about getting my Ccw back

Related topic, how does CA view black powder guns? For home and personal protection? I know other states have different definitions for fire arms and black powder. I know a few people how made very bad choice in their teens, but are great law abiding people now. One works in Oxnard, her car has been vandalized few times now. And she does get threats. Any information would help this quagmire. Thank you very much for your information, you are a shinning light in this state of gun policy darkness!!!
