The best fight scenes of Arcane and is there a point to all the punching? Why does Vi box, why does Jayce use a hammer, does Ekko like Jinx?

Netflix Arcane has some of the best fight scenes of any anime I've seen and yet they come rarely and with a focus not on fighting for fight sake but something more and other. Why do we fight? All of Vi fights are about punching your way into a fight, the real fight, for saving her sister or really an inner battle between saving who her sister was and helping her new friends. Everyone has a "real" fight that's within themselves.

One of the things I like about how Arcane is how it treats violence. In most, if not every, action show/movie/game one side will come out triumphant in a fight. In Arcane, however, no one wins fights. Even at times when it could be said that one side came out on top, there is still no sense of triumph. Violence always has consequences and Arcane shows us the consequences. The kids may beat up the other gang, but they loose the goods; Vi may defeat Sevika, but she is stabbed/kidnapped; Ekko may defeat Jinx, but he looses Powder (and gets injured); etc. So yeah, not only are Arcane's fights amazing, they are also tragic.

Is it? He’s just placed voice over on top of clips from the show. The analysis didn’t really say anything unique. This is basically what all the other videos made about Arcane said. This just popped up on my feed so that’s why I’m only commenting this now… 11 months later.

I love how you phrased it as a "consensual fight", that jarred and amused me at first but the more I think about it the more fitting it is? Like, the implication that a fight can not only be communication but /intimate/ communication, and the way that scene in particular just screams, "I know you! Even after all this time, even though we're on opposite sides of this battle, I still KNOW you!"

Half of the magic of Arcane's fight scenes comes from the camera work. If they had put a static camera on a virtual tripod and just let it capture the action, these fight scenes would have been, dare I say it, boring to watch. But the camera work on Arcane is of such a high caliber that every fight scene is cranked up by a factor of 10 in intensity as a result.
