I love my bellville boots. I have 1 pair left in black that I currently still wear in retirement at my current job. They are one of the only boots that doesn't hurt my flat feet.

Danner Ft Lewis are by far my favorite boot. I still wear a pair now that I'm retired. For a desert boot I like the Belleville with the sand tread sole. Not because it's aggressive but because they provide so much extra cushion and are wicked comfortable.

On my third pair, and I wore my issued Belleville basic training stompers for three years. Love those things.

Choices? We wore green Vietnam-era jungle boots in the desert in the 90's because that's what they issued us as a "hot weather" boot. They still even had a little black leather on the toe we tried to maintain - with little success.

Meanwhile Marines only have one choice of purple crayon.

Funny. I am still wearing my pair of Belleville's issued to me in '97. Yes, the sole is worn flat, but otherwise still in great shape. I retired 12 years ago, so I wear them for yard work, construction and wood splitting.

I had the Belleville light assault boots, and I still have 2 pairs of them, and my old bct boots, because why the fuck not?

Oakley boots for CSAR ops, I was rocking 20 years ago. Awesome to know that the Oakley boots are still the killers choice.

Footwear is basically the only place I don't mind spending a decent bit of money for quality. I can spend 30 bucks on a cheap pair of shoes that last me 2 months of being too narrow and unsupported, or I can dish out 180 for a nice pair of shoes that fit my big feet and remain comfortable and strong for 2 thousand miles of walking.

I wore tanker boots for 8 years. Of course they were also highly spit shined. I was wearing them, after getting out, while riding my motorcycle to work in the rain. They literally fell apart on my feet. Had call the Mrs to bring me some shoes and fresh socks. lol

Never served. Doesn’t stop me from wearing the boots. Can’t beat the durability of them. One pair lasted me four years when I was hitchhiking through the states.

6 months later and the KZfaq algorithm brought me back, leave me and my basic training boots alone

I wore my steel toes all the time! I got them when I was an Engineer and just kept wearing them. It is the reason I wear my Irish Setter steel toe boots everywhere.

my basic boots are indestructible. once you break them in and put some inserts in them it's like walking on a cloud

My Oakley’s boots took a beating in Iraq. I wore them up until my discharge. They had burn marks and even a blood stain. Our butter bar who came to us after deployment told me to go get new boots and not to wear those again. They stayed on my feet for over 2 more years. I earned the condition of those boots and they weren’t going anywhere. I was medically discharged and my boots were in my storage unit along with 90% of my military stuff and was broken into and it was all stolen. When I realized the boots were gone I actually had to fight tears

I wore my SI all four years. Loved em. Feet hated them. Wallet loved them.

22 years Retired SMSgt USAF always wore “stock issue” their Cheap and work well.

Go cheap on your footwear and you'll be feeling that poor decision for months until you have to replace them

There's something so good about wearing your boots for a long time and see them get damaged but still hold up. Boots feel so good to deteriorate

I wore basic training boots all 12 months of my deployment in Iraq. Lightweight and breathable. Once you build up the calluses on the back of your feet and Achilles from getting eat up by friction they are the best lol

I wore Converse brand steel toes. They had a side zipper and C O M F O R T padding. Best boots i ever wore, still to this day!

I got my oakleys and they werr the best boot ive ever had. They were a model that I've never seen anyone else wearing but damn were they good. My unit had a ruck march every thursday and those boots were worth every single penny.

Six years and rocked my basics. I had 3 pairs of em. Never used the cold weather boots and only used the steel toe when on garrison word duties.

Different branch, but the bootcamp "Super Boots" were actually super - not. Gave me neuropathy in both big toes after only two months in training -- immediately swapped them out for Bates composite toe for work, and Belleville ultralights for shore duty / inapections / quarters. The cheapest Bates lasted a couple years at sea until they started rotting and covered in oily waste, but easy to replace. Non-skid deck did a number on the soles, but you don't need sole-grip if the ship IS your grip. The Bellevilles, though -- in black leather -- lasted YEARS, and that parade black shine got them mirror-sheen. Even waterproofed them and used them for years in snow, rain, and flooded forest hiking. Belleville is the best boot I have ever worn, and I stand by that till I die.

I literally just couldn’t fit any other boots so I was stuck with basic trainers, till my parents god bless their souls found a pair of belles that fit still got they to this day.

I wore the basic training boots my whole career. Once broken in those things were magic!

I wore the same issued boots from basic through deployment until I got out and my feet were fine. My wife was amazed at how soft my feet became “like baby skin.” I never needed mole skin either. Army infantry.

I got out of the Corps in '96, and still wear my standard issue Desert Storm boots regularly. Thirty years of use and best damn boots I've ever owned... They just don't make anything like that anymore.

I wish I had my dad’s old leather ones from the 90s/early 2000s. There was a very specific smell to those things. He finished his career in the reserves, and one Friday every month he’d pull all his stuff out, I’d iron his uniforms, and he would sit on the floor next to me polishing his boots. I even remember the old stained tube sock he kept his polish and brushes in. I miss my dad.

I bought a pair of Belleview boots when I was a PFC, three years ago. It was when I finally broke down and like you said, treated myself. My friends all said I was suffering unnecessarily. Anyways, I have ONLY worn this same pair of Belleviews for 3 years now. They are so beyond perfect to me. They’re apart of me. They have grown to me to form one single organism. I have replaced the laces, but that is it. They’re still in amazing shape. They’ve been squirted on by Mother Nature, completely engulfed in mud, used to put out fires, curb stomp rattlesnakes, and they’re still in perfect condition. They’ll last forever.

I didn't get to try the Oakleys until after I got out, what a wonderful boot. They've been great for rucking, running, beach walks. Unbelievably dangerous on slick surfaces though!

I had black Corcoran Boots in the desert. Never had any desert fatigues either.

Navy switched us to the Blueberry uniforms. Suddenly any black, safety toe boot that was not Gov issued, was unauthorized. Rumor was those boots were Army Surplus for their own recent uniform change.

As a kid I had black issue Vietnam jungle boots. I wore them out. I loved them and could never find another quality pair. Those boots were savage.

I wore my basic training boots through everything, EIB, Air Assault, Airborne, two deployments, finally wore a hole in the side and cracked the bottom right along the ball of the foot they wore so thin...Lotta memories in those boots, I still have them, along with my original dog tags, crossed rifles, smoking jacket and wooby
