TBH, it's a nice van, I like ford, and my fleet is Ford, but all your specs are based on an empty van being driven around without a 1-ton load as a minimum, so for me still very miss leading is this review of this E-van. May I suggest you drive on a full charge with a 1-ton load in the back and see how many miles it takes you? This will truly give business people like myself on how truly this van perform 🙂

I think is not huge difference ( there is some) in the price. Its just because here all delivery cars in the city has to be 100% el. 🤷‍♂️ I think the best option is to buy a hybrid.

A few things have to happen to this van to be the best. It has to be 4-wheel drive, no low hanging motors or suspension parts for better clearance, the rear doors hinges have to be hidden instead of exposed and if there is no way to put a bigger battery for better range, a small engine to recharge the batteries(hybrid) version should be offered also. Until then, the Ford Transit Trail is the best there is.

My question double D is here in American the range is about 100 miles. Am thinking it’s set up for city driving but my question is if it’s gearing can be changed to get better range on the highway. I know the range would change in the city but for traveling around the country would make more sense for a vanlifer. Jc

Had a test drive a few weeks back, and yes it's a pretty good effort from Ford. Quiet, reasonable quick with nice light steering. However, throttle response is dreadful. Very slow to pick up and then all that power comes in a rush. Watch out when you are reversing! Ford engineers need to drive a Tesla to see how it's done properly. But this is the future and won't be too soon to see off all those diesels. Oh and those high servicing costs will be a thing of the past. . .

The truth is 79p per kilowatt today and that’s only going to rise in a van. What does 140 miles. In good condition will cost you in a 65 kW battery £50 per full charge, and that will be very expensive if you do that daily and if you only do one a day on a public charging £50 a day, EV vans and not the future no one is going to charge at home and not want to charge on the way back

I drive an electric car but cannot see how these e-vans make sense. The range needs to be vastly bigger, around 400 real world in the winter. This will allow one charge per week. We can't afford to pay men to sit and charge the van during the day. Employers can't force employees to fit chargers at home, brings numerous problems not at all helped by current HMRC rules that don't allow electric charging costs at home to be treated as an expense. They are currently treated at income, which is then taxed as income. How can anyone vote an e-van as VAN OF THE YEAR given all these problems. ?

With a battery to fit your requirements you’d end up with such a low payload that it would still fail. More suited to a local distribution company that can charge them at the depot overnight or a sole trader that charges at home overnight and uses it to take himself/materials to the job site.
