20 things you somehow missed in Collateral……proceeds to list a ton of things that aren’t in the movie so how could they possibly be missed? Surely this should have been 20 things you didn’t know about Collateral?

Collateral was one of those rare gems when you see major movie stars playing roles they normally wouldnt appear as. Tom Cruise as a villain was great

Michael Mann has created some incredible films his ability to integrate music is top-notch but Collateral has its own special place with a handful of other movies that make the gun play violence and action feel realistic and translate as how it could very well be. I think that gunmen with Ryan Philippe and Benicio del Toro Ronin which has one of the most legendary and underrated car Chase scenes in any film. All have violence and violent themes with a level of action but provide a definite sense of realism. An early Christian Bale movie has a partial art based on firearms It is fantasy and kind of silly that movie was It's stilleft the depression of plausibility to subextent so when you watch collateral or gunman and you see the self-awareness is skill that certain individuals have and that it's not just point-and-shoot but a whole body experience you definitely feel like yes this is how it should be and this is how i'd want it to be if that character was me.

The song in the club scene, Ready Steady Go by Paul Oakenfold, was also used in the Bourne Identity in the car chase. It's been on my playlist for 10 years.

I say Collateral is Cruise's third time playing a villain. He was definitely the villain in one of his earliest roles in TAPS.

I've mentioned Number 3 to people for years... but there's more to it than what's in this video. Yes, Vincent's perfectly dead-center shooting results in him hitting the metal frame of the subway door... but Max's unfamiliarity with handling a firearm is what allows him to fatally wound Vincent. When Max steps out from hiding to shoot at Vincent, he actually closes his eyes before pulling the trigger. And then while he is shooting the pistol, he's not only firing (literally) blindly... he's also waving the pistol around in a circle as he fires. This causes one of his bullets to miss the metal frame of the subway door, and hit Vincent in the torso. So Max's inability to correctly fire a pistol actually causes him to win the gunfight.

2004 was a RIDICULOUS year for film! Collateral, Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, Shaun of The Dead, Downfall, Kill Bill Vol 2, Nightwatch, Hotel Rwanda, Layer Cake, Undertow, A Very Long Engagement, Spiderman 2, Shrek 2, Ray, Anchorman, Sideways, Before Sunset, Garden State, Mean Girls, Napoleon Dynamite, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, 2046, Kung Fu Hustle, House of Flying Daggers, Nobody Knows, Bad Education, Mysterious Skin, Passion of The Christ, The Terminal, The Aviator, Dead Man's Shoes, Finding Neverland, I Heart Huckabees, Saw, I Robot, Million Dollar Baby, The Woodsman, The Aviator, Dodgeball, Dawn of The Dead, Saw, Closer, The Incredibles, A Home At The End of The World, The Notebook, Howl's Moving Castle, The Assassination of RIchard Nixon, Primer, Vera Drake, Badassssss The Machinist, Mean Creek, Beyond The Sea, Ocean's 12, 13 Going On 30, The Girl Next Door, National Treasure, Team America World Police, Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle, Man On Fire, and The fricking Prisoner of Azkaban. Even the misses were pretty good like Sky Captain And The World of Tomorrow, Van Helsing, Alien Vs Predator, Alexander, Along Came Polly, Meet The Fockers and Alfie. Yet somehow Crash won for Best Picture? FOR SHAME!
@boutrosboutrosboutrosboutros8 ай бұрын
Crash had that huge cast. but i agree I would go with collateral for best picture and both these actors could have won awards. And so many other films in your list, 100% !

I assume you meant Sandler would be playing Fox's role? I actually think Sandler could have been awesome in Cruise's role. It's my favorite Cruise performance, so I wouldn't change anything, but it would have been interesting to see Sandler tackle a villain role. He's proved in the last 20 years that he's got serious dramatic chops.
@Eggy798 ай бұрын
I don't think he could have pulled off the cool, charming personality of Vincent but I completely agree he could play a great villian. A kind of villian I see for him is Denzel in Training Day. Someone seemingly charming and fun who you realize has a dark past
@Dowdhardware8 ай бұрын
I've never actually noticed the final shoot out. There's bullet holes in the train door - 2 to the chest and 1 to the head. The door stopped it
@openemailoneone630226 күн бұрын
So Vincent is banking that the bullet will go thru the door? Somehow at the back of my head Vincent dont't want to kill max he shout "Maxx!, I do this for a living" why?

I believe Tom Cruise trained with the SAS for the quick draw shooting from the hip scene.
@davidbrown54112 ай бұрын
He had an SAS advisor. It isn't necessarily about speed, but also deliberate economy of movement. The targeting of the anatomical T in the Mozambique drill is also pure Hereford gun club, although the nose is a better aiming mark than the forehead, as the round takes out the medulla oblongata thus stopping all brain function. Not as cinematographic though I guess!

@Khoros-Mythos7 ай бұрын
Please stop perpetuating the idea that Vincent's skill is why he died. The ending scene literally defies physics, Vincent's rounds would've gone straight through those thin sheet metal doors, and Max very, very *very* clearly doesn't put a single round closer than a 5 foot radius all around Vincent. I love this movie, but the ending shootout just doesn't make any sense.
@hippomancy2 ай бұрын
I think cruise has been well-advised to stick to "heroes" as his personal attitude of alpha really shine through as a villain, and that is more off-putting than the villainous actions. everyone says he's so empathetic, but he is a leading Scientologist... p.r. baby, p.r. ... the coyote scene contributed to the sense of moral loss, of wildness, and fear of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, juxtaposed with the Audioslave song... it added a surprising coloratura to the movie.
