My favorite episode is when Batman simply sits with Ace. He's given the means to neutralize her and is told to do so but all she wants is his company, she knows she's dying. Instead of doing what Amanda wants he sits with the poor dear. It was a powerful episode and really shows Batman's character. Hits you in the feels when she expresses sadness that the people she gave powers to didn't play with her, they were too preoccupied with greed. All Ace wanted was some sense of normalcy before she died.
@sirreepicheeprules7443
@sirreepicheeprules7443 3 жыл бұрын
That was truly a great episode, I think it was one of the very last of the series Batman Beyond. Terry is revealed as Bruce's son and Amanda Waller now retired and old explains to Terry the truth about his origin and her deep respect for Batman as both a great hero and genuine asset of humanity. She recounts the incident with Ace and Batman goes in and speaks with her as she is dying and the moment is truly a sad but very humanizing moment for both hero and anti-villain. Ace explains her childhood was stolen from her and she was used and turned into a weapon, she knew she was dying and really just wanted someone who could understand to talk to before she died. Batman knows personal loss and pain well so he understood her and comforted her with his company until she died.

Wasn't Amanda the entire reason why Ace was dying and that batman agreed to follow her orders to end Ace? Sure he decided not to do it in the end but agreeing to act on orders in the first place from the person responsible for Ace's suffering leaves a sour taste in the mouth.
@Darthnova-rd9nk
@Darthnova-rd9nk 2 жыл бұрын
@@1Shalnark1 it was a bad situation because Ace's powers were reality warping. Batman was not following wallers orders but trying to stop the threat. He only takes the kill device after waller admits that Ace is dying. With how bad some fates are in the DCAU a painless death.
@jenniferpruitt6534
@jenniferpruitt6534 2 жыл бұрын
One of the greatest tragic moments ever for Batman. Also, it shows how compassionate he is, finding a way to avert disaster without killing. All the girl wanted was to be assured it was going to be okay until the end. The end with him carrying Ace's body and everything turning back to normal testifies to his great compassion.

If I remember right, since this was broadcasted as a kids TV series, the creators weren't allowed to kill any of the characters. Therefore, they had to get really creative and stated that they often had to come up with fates worse then death since they couldn't actually kill anyone.

Honestly, the way they try to sugarcoat child tv shows really bugs me. True, what they show is haunting, but I understood the majority of what was happening despite being only in grade school when this stuff came out. I LOVED the imagination that came withing the 90s and early 2000 DC series of Batman, Batman Beyond and Justice League. One of my utmost favorite Batman episode was 'Almost Got 'Em'. I would stay up late, listening to the storybook version in an old-fashioned recording in a record player under my pillow. Still have it, just can't find it! 🦇🦇🦇

I don't remember that one...did he have a suit that provided air for him? Because if not, he'd have suffocated long before he got to the core. Even falling at terminal velocity, it would take almost two days to reach the core. A phased human probably wouldn't even make it past the crust if they didn't have some self-contained breathing system...a trip that would take over 3 & 1/2 minutes by itself.

Honestly when I saw that I thought “that doesn’t sound too bad” however the “against your will” part is a deal breaker even if it was against your will you’re still you relatively speaking. You still can think, move, and live an altered by still livable life. Unlike others being living goo or a entombed insane mummy. A worse version of the anthropomorphic animal thing is in Beyond. A company makes this body altering chemical marketed towards youth to give them cool animal features. Like a girl who gave herself cat eyes and stuff like that. However using too much of it will push you further to the animal side of the equation and run the risk of limiting if not completely destroying your intelligence. (Not so subtle drug reference and an allegory for the fashion industry mixed into one) the person behind the thing ends up falling in a vat of the stuff and comes out as this horrible amalgamation of different animals, just screaming in horror at what she became.

No Chronos? He gets trapped in a permanent time loop by Batman, constantly beaming back to the moment when his wife goaded him into using his time belt for more than petty theft. Also, I'd've replaced Omniferious (#8) with "Heavyman" Koenig, also from Static Shock. He's the overarching villain of SheBang's (admittedly forgettable) story arc, who ends up using a flawed version of the process that created her to give himself uncontrollable absorption powers. At the end of his episode, he's become so dense that he's no longer mobile, and likely spends his remaining time on Earth sucking air through a high-pressure hose just to survive. Or you could go with Madelyn Spaulding, whose brain gets fried so hard in her rematch with Static (a brain that he already cooked once, to the point that her telepathic abilities get changed to telekinetic ones for her comeback) that she suffers permanent brain damage, to the tune of being a mental toddler. It's worth noting that she's a teenager when that happens, so . . . yeah.

Back when I watched Batman: TAS, the episode that really shook me hard was the Annie episode, in which Robin somehow falls in love with a part of Clayface who looks like a young girl (he calls her Annie because of her amnesia). At the very end of the episode, when Gordon asks Batman if there is any other charge to add to Clayface's crimes, Robin blurts out ‘Yes. Murder.’ That's because up until the very end, Annie would act like your average human girl. It really adds to the horror of Clayface's rampage when that monster finally gets to merge her back into him. True, the Return of the Joker final movie of Batman Beyond also had me shiver, but still. ‘Annie’ is pretty much the only episode that makes me consider Clayface as an insane criminal. Today, Clayface is mostly known for his funny Stephany character in the Harley Quin series, but when you know about the Annie story, it is *very* hard to read how loved Clayface is among fans.
