From what I had heard in the past it was Angle that asked to be let go so he could go heal, not Vince firing him. Angle had asked to go part time, but was refused and kept on a full time schedule so he decided to jump to TNA which was on the up at the time and he knew it would be an easy schedule. I remember there being a lot of negativity aimed at Kurt by fans at the time as they felt what he did was deceitful as WWE/Vince had let him go to heal up, but instead of healing up he carried on wrestling.

The part about warrior is only half true. Maybe less. He, in fact, did try to talk to Vince for 3-4 months prior to the night he threatened to sit out.
