He won the Memorial Cup, the Calder Cup, was an NHL All Star and won the Stanley Cup twice, but soon after the LA Kings forward fell off the hockey map. So that begs the question: whatever happened to Mike Richards?

@@freddylong156 Yeah hopefully he has it under control these days. They did a feature on him on CBC's HOCKEY DAY IN CANADA a couple of years ago in Kenora , BC. Which is where he lives now. I would've never guessed that--between Mike Richards and Jeff Carter--Carter would still be playing in the NHL to this day while Richards fizzled out. He seemed like he had that drive which would carry him into his twilight years, proving useful to many teams needing a veteran presence and checking line grit, while Carter appeared to be made of glass at times during his career. Shows what I know.

Unfortunate way to end a career. I think his ceiling was even higher. He could have been a Hall of Famer, a Jonathan Toews-like player. Still, being a captain, a Selke finalist, an Olympic Gold Medal winner and two Stanley Cups is nothing to sneeze at.
