Yes, it makes sense. since last 50 years I have been playing guitar and bass. apart from different band width amplifiers and speaker system, my observation, rather most of the musicians have observed that best clean and melodious amplifiers are Valve set followed by transistorized (NPN) and the last choice is IC based. Due to this musical amplifier makers are still making tube amplifiers and as the extreme end musical amplifiers are having 'simulated tube sound' Just imagine that musicians on tour carry extra tubes valves, as tubes can get destroyed due to glass body. Tubes give deep rich clean tone, IC based amps give dry flat tone, amplification is secondary in importance. Cost cut is achieved by using individual low amplification amps and the directing their output to mixed and high wattage master amplifier. However musicians prefer using their own 'stand alone' high power amps.

The truth is that IC not all but few give true audio quality with very high resolution not normally seen by transistor. I mention LM 3886 give audio quality much superior than transistor like 3055 3773 etc. LA 4508 the only IC I heard sound unmatched with any system in the world in resolution with accurate signal shape but noise is higher here but frequency response is not even found in HD audio. I don't understand why people run after power and not quality and resolution.

Nice video. I want to mention a point in favour of an IC amplifier. A transistor needs proper biasing while an IC doesn't require it. Personally I prefer the transistor sound especially the sound produced by the old Germanium. Would you please make a video on "replacement of Ge transistors by Si "…?

Whereas ICs are only replacement to the original, not to be exactly substituted. STK ICs are great. THD is less may be 0.01%. You are great Sir. Keep it up. For me the Transistor is the best for durability and it can take abuse ; about Ic-chip I have never seen an Ic-chip amplifier used in a live concert stage cause its a less power audio and so fragile, , the Ic-chip is good only for a medium power home listening level..
