I would carry kit for hunting primarily. It had what I would need for most. Mostly I had what I would everyday in my pockets. But now I'm working on an edc for a wheelchair. I also see you are a first responder. I was in law enforcement for 30 years. An EMT. As I'm in a wheelchair many you had I can still use plus other things for my situation. I think what people need to know that your kit good but that is for you. So I watch a lot of edc videos to get ideas that will work for me.

I put together one bag for each member of my family in a regular backpack. They have a walkie talkie/flash light/radio, head lamp and batteries, mylar blanket, tiny first aid, knife, towel, gloves, toiletries, coverall, facemasks, wipes and that's about it. My family don't seem interested in prepping or the bag but they know where they are. I keep first aid items in the kitchen that is more comprehensive. I know some basic first aid and CPR as does my husband. I added a bag for my basement that has tools. Down there is a butane camping stove, water food.

My edc is a mom bag and I still find it funny that I carried a lot of these things long before I started learning proper prepping. Kids are often their own kind of emergency situation. Lol Pedialyte is still my go to for fast hydration boosts. I've saved myself and others many times with how hot it gets where I live here in the south. Thank you so much for this video. It definitely showed me some holes I need to fill for more outdoor scenarios.

Morning Grey. In my truck I do carry a "MacGyver" kit along with my get home bag, IFAC and all my everyday carry. I do have a small edc bag that also has many smaller tools and equipment I have found I need quite a few times a week. A bag is a bag, unless you put a strap on it, it is now a purse. Put a belt on it, it is now a fanny pack. Carry it, it is now a clutch. Oh well, lable man in front of it and it becomes acceptable to carry. 😜

Love the size and gear you have assembled in it! Brother I guarantee your gonna get some really dumb comments! 😂 Like this is not EDC cause people just don't get it the idea of EDC or how to expand upon it or you'll get the flip side where people haven't watched your previous content going over medical, get home bags and so on. The smart folks will get it and understand it and take something away from it. Like I read about the whole Grey man patch thing and I as just dumbfounded. Many of those individuals will not make it in a true SHTF my friend. Anyways this was truly informative and helpful in several ways. Thank you for sharing and the work you put into your channel! Godspeed Grey 🙏

Brother I couldn't agree more, I'd love to see some of these "Keyboard Warriors" put out content. Grey puts himself out there trying to spread the word of preparedness and some of these idiots just don't take away the information that's inside the videos and they rather criticize not understanding that everyone is different and this is just Grey's way. God bless you Old Man!

Lol, other than you having more knives & medical, our kits are very similar. Of course, I don't have the medical knowledge you have. Mine has quite a bit of cash, just in case, and even some silver. Hi Grey. I have been working on my bags….bug out and EDC. I am turning my ‘purse’ into an EDC. It’s a sling back bag. I have been picking up ideas from a lot of you. It’s more minimal than my bug out, but still contains important items in the name of survival. Thanks for your input. I have heard a lot of ppl including some gorilla tape. I have added a whistle, pepper spray, wipes, lighters, hydro, emergency blanket and still working on it. All the best!

I guess I think of EDC as more like what can I carry on my person, no bag or kit. It's a bare bones you're in a situation with nothing but whatever is on your body. Next level for me would be something like what you have minus the technology pieces (except cell phone charger) and less combat type medical supplies. Stuff that I carry in my shoulder bag with my wallet and first aid medical. Next level for me is bug out/get home bag and finally not coming home bag with lots of stuff for maybe weeks on the road. Have to revise it. It's too heavy if have to be on foot.
@GreyManPrepping

Most folks look at EDC in several ways since my shoulder bag is with me everywhere I go. I consider it EDC. I pack it thinking, what if I can get to my truck with my get home bag. Over the years, I've reduced the weight of my bags dramatically as I'm not getting any younger, lol 😆 Have my GHB down to 14lbs my INCH bag down to abt 29lbs. Compared to my Ruck in the Army, which was around 75-80 lbs. So much more manageable at these weights. Thanks for watching, and have a great weekend! 😁

A very well thought out kit. The only thing I'd recommend is to consider substituting a small pry bar in place of one of those big folding knives. Where i work, spigots are frequently secured behind small locked doors. One could easily ruin a knife by using it as an impromptu pry bar.

As to "redundancies" - - - Only TWO items I believe require "redundancy" 1. Knife and Fire Starter. In addition to THREE methods of starting a FIRE, I carry 2 small tubes made from a plastic straw: (heat seal both ends) A "cotton ball" saturated with Vaseline is stuffed inside for starting fire in wet weather. Multiple "knives and fire starters" are NO. 1! This bag is "similar" to what I have in my vehicles.

1 is none and 2 is one is good for the absolute must have can't live without. I am a collector (packrat) and I carry, buy, store stuff that I don't use and is a waste of space, weight, money and energy. I would like to change my everyday carry to everyday use, everyday wear. The majority of the stuff I carry should be used every day, I should have a inventory list on my phone and mark every time I use the item in a month of carry, and use that as a major deciding factor on whether I am going to carry it on me or leave it in my vehicle which is usually within walking distance. I can learn a lot from minimalist hikers and carry on only travelers. I love Multi purpose complementary items but only if I use them fully ( just imagine removing the tools from a Leatherman you don't use every day) . "Just in Case" is what kills me and causes me to leave the whole bag in the car rather than carry it on my person. My focus should be on everyday wear and not everyday carry. If it is not scratched and well loved then I probably don't use it.

I'm not out every day or even 3x a week, so I don't keep a bag in my truck, also the temps get hot inside of a closed up hot day making it hotter inside the truck. For those reasons I just don't keep bags in there like that. If I have to go somewhere, I take a bottle of water, snack bar, eye drops for dry eyes, medicine for anxiety/panic attacks and BC powder in my purse. I have separate bags ready to go for each situation that may arise that I can grab omw out of the door. 1 loaded bag for medical emergency use. 1 bag for food/snack/drinks, water, water enhancer packets and candy. 1 bag for assorted clothes, socks/shoes, extra eyeglasses, phone charger, toiletries/hygiene. Toolbag is already in the truck. I don't like having everything mixed together in the same bag, I prefer to have things kinda like going on vacation so I know what's in each bag. I know...I'm weird like that. My protection gun/knife is in my purse and the baseball bat, golf club, 4ft stick (like Walking Tall), ax, hatchet and machete, shovel, rope, spade, garbage bags, jumper cables and flashlight are already inside the truck. Bahaha 62 and live alone but I don't get out at night. Machete is new from today at Harbor Freight.

But as you went through your kit. I realized I carry all that stuff in my car already. So that does constitute, technically and EDC. Only real difference is I would not carry a tourniquet. A heavy first aid kit with me. As you do. I'm in Florida in a big city and EMS can be there in 5 minutes. Anything I need to take care of, I can take care of you without that. I've never been shot at in 50 years. I don't anticipate it changing.

I appreciate you watching through before making a decision, I figured some folks would disagree with my thought process on EDC but as the term states it's things you carry with you everyday, being on your person's extended ingredients to a vehicle as it's with you an accessible in most cases. The main reason I carry TQ's is that Bleeding can quickly become life-threatening. The average time to bleed out is only 2 to 5 minutes. In my area in Florida, the avg police response time is about 9-11 mins. I was a combat medic in the Army, and it's just entrenched in my DNA at this point to always be ready for the worst-case scenario. Thanks so much for watching, and have a wonderful evening 😁

@carnivorecaveman Ай бұрын
It's a good kit, but since I follow the carnivore diet, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't put any carb-rich food-like concoctions (crap...) in my EDC kit! The thing is, I didn't pack any food, because my hobby is anyway "survival in extreme conditions", I'm a professional faster, so far my record is 12 days in a row without any food, and even after that I wasn't very hungry. And anyway, I'm ready to swallow live earthworms without batting an eye, if there's nothing better than that. I have eaten them many occasions, as well as other bugs, too. However, if I were to put some food in the kit, it would be pemmican, it's worthy of a carnivore, a meat-eater like me, a predator, whose role models are the cavemen, it's not high in carbohydrates but high in fat, and it keeps for DECADES even without refrigeration! Extremely longlasting! And it gives you much more energy than carbohydrates!
@GreyManPrepping
@GreyManPrepping Ай бұрын
I make pemmican myself add some blue berries and black berries from the garden I dehydrate along with the tallow and dried meat. I've been experimenting with several options that can withstand the high temperature fluctuations in my car. Florida heat can destroy many food items. Whereas they go rancid. In a survival situation, almost anything would be better than nothing. My buddy, the Alaska Prepper he's been doing carnivore for about a year now.
@carnivorecaveman
@carnivorecaveman Ай бұрын
@@GreyManPrepping I don't know how well pemmican lasts in Florida's climate, I'll be honest, I have no experience surviving in such a hot climate. I am a Hungarian man, 59 years old, although I am currently polluting the environment with my presence in the state of Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania is much colder than Florida. But Hungary, my native country, is even colder. And I have no intention of traveling to Florida or even further south, because even Penn State is sometimes too hot for me, at least in the summer... To be honest, I would probably feel really comfortable in Alaska! Anyway, it sometimes gets very hot in Hungary, but it's different than in Florida or Pennsylvania. The largest part of Hungary is basically and ultimately a semi-desert, so even if it's hot there, it's almost always DRY hot! It is obvious that food lasts much better in dry heat than in humid, wet heat... So I'm used to this kind of climate. I readily admit, or at least assume, that you may have more experience surviving in tropical or subtropical areas than I do. But I don't wish for such places. The environment may be beautiful and interesting, but I'm afraid I'd be cooked in no time and getting died of apoplexy there. It's not my place.

One of the things I've been adding to all my bags is some chem lights. Seems like a dumb idea, but sometimes you might want a sacrificial light sourse to draw attention to something. Could be an injured party in the dark, or a car accident on a bad corner. Having a light source which doesn't take batteries and can just be used and dropped has its advantages. Plus they're pretty cheap, I got 10 red chem lights for £10, fairly certain they'd be a similar price if not less in the US. Couple in each bag, couple in the car, and a couple in the house in case of power interruption, can save on wasted battery use. I also keep something similar to your neck gator in my back pocket, once folded up I put in a bunch of hair ties, and a face mask from covid times. No matter what you feel of covid, those masks are now a socially accepted way to conceal your identity in urban environments. Authorities might question a camo gator, but a blue style medical mask, "oh I've got a cold, trying not to pass it to anyone else".
