I do love a summer pack!!... feels like carrying a small car on our back for most of the year!. Then boom!!! summer's in full bloom!. Though for the trade off of carrying such a light pack, we are burdened with flying, biting , beasties....Take care out there.

Having trouble posting this comment as the filter thinks it's spam/fishing. You'll just have to find the blog with the step by step instructions yourself... in which it advises that as the Pro version ships direct from Canada and not the US, our trade agreement with them means tents are not subject to duty and you can claim it back if it was charged. He got £72 back on his 2p Pro.

Thanks Andrew. I'm always fascinated by what others take. I never get my gear down to what you seem to manage. I didn't hear you mention waterproofs or any navigation stuff - map, compass etc. Was this because of the weather forecast and because you were in a very familiar area? I don't think I've ever risked a backpack without those whatever the forecast and however well I know the area. I'm possibly over cautious. Thanks again. Lots of food for thought.
@AndrewBeavers
@AndrewBeavers 10 күн бұрын
forecast wise i do check three forecasts & take a chance if all three are looking good..if there a percentage wise chance then of course id take the waterproofs..nav wise for kinder ive been exploring that place since i was at school so im pretty confident in my own sense of awareness & familiarity whilst up there even in challenging conditions..

Alright Andy. Great video. Noticed no waterproof jacket or bottoms, obviously u checked weather and wasn’t forecast for rain, but as Lake District weather goes, it can change in the blink of an eye. I’ve never took the plunge just to leave them at home and rely on the forecast. I know your walking kit will be quick drying and have a dwr so will withstand light showers. What’s your opinion.
@AndrewBeavers
@AndrewBeavers 10 күн бұрын
i do take weather forecasts into consideration & the three i rely on if forecasting no rain i do tend to take a chance..also knowing kinder as i do i can sort of predict what the conditions are gonna be like so as i say i do tend to take that risk..there's not many times off the top of my head ive been caught out if theres any chance percentage wise id take the jacket of course..

Hi Andrew great video. I’m heading up to the Peak District end of the month for first wild camp. Do you have any recommendations for a good area where you’re unlikely to be loved on? Was thinking Fairbrook Naze?
@AndrewBeavers
@AndrewBeavers 10 күн бұрын
firstly its highly unlikely you'll get moved on up on kinder its not agricultural land or a grouse driven managed area so you'll be fine there.. if it's you're first time up there id stick to the southern edge maybe around woolpacks or grindslow knoll & then if you need a quick get off it's a pretty simple route off.

Hi Andrew, tha could save some brass by putting some thought in to your food. Those bought meals are getting silly - How Much!!!!! Have a look at Huel hot and savoury, and Protein Works. You need to use twice the amount they say but it still works out at just over four pounds per meal. Cracking films - I'll sithee 👍

I’ve used Huel H&S with a packet of microwave rice. Boil water to hydrate the Huel and then boil more water to heat the rice through. You have to put the rice directly in the water as the pack doesn’t let heat through quickly. Its 800 calories for the Huel and the rice
