Yes, I don't really think of it as a different genre. I mean, there is power metal, thrash metal, doom, death metal, etc. and the topics range from band to band. There are just a ton of bands with Biblical and Christian topics. But there is a diehard underground following of people who will only listen to metal with Christian lyrics. There are literally thousands of bands, record labels, etc. that cater just to Christian bands. Thanks for watching.

I was wondering if anyone would notice the Neon Cross and Vengeance Rising. I guess that is how you can tell the fanatics? Haha! Yes, what I was doing was doing the video, then re-doing the video to fix all the errors. Pfffft! Forget it. I'm doing these videos without a script, so mistakes will happen. I love the S.F.C. albums. Super C is awesome. Definitely old school and different than what's popular now, but in his time, he was the best.

Yes, both California Metal and California Metal Vol 2 were released on vinyl. Also East Coast metal from that same series. I'll have to do a video and show them.

Time's End is indeed my favorite Metal Album, and I wanted the opinion of a expert on Heavy Metal Music. This is going to be a long reply. Sorry. I can enjoy art without agreeing with the message. Sort of like seeing a play. Though I think suicide is a horrific thing, I still can enjoy Romeo & Juliet. I don't like war, but I really enjoyed "Saving Private Ryan", if that makes sense. I also find that a lot of songs that are against my faith are usually just pointing fingers and sometimes, if we listen we can learn something from these people who hate Christianity. Frankly they have some valid complaints. The reason a lot of people hate Christianity is because of the way Christians act and behave. First and foremost we are to love God, but we are also suppose to "'Love your neighbor as yourself", not push them away, not point fingers at them, not beat them over the head with our own self-righteous convictions and certainly not think of ourselves more highly than them. Hopefully I don't come off preachy, but this is a sensitive subject and one that I have thought about quite a bit. What it comes down to for me is, I trust in God, not myself. Christianity is about a relationship with God and believing in Jesus Christ; that he was born, that he died and that he was raised again on the third day. The Bible is clear that nothing I do can earn the love, grace and forgiveness of God. It is gift. It's not about what type of music I enjoy, what type of car I drive, the books I read, the food I eat, what sports I enjoy, the cloths I wear, etc. That is superficial stuff that religious people liked to get all freaked out over. In the end those things are meaningless. It should be about a relationship with Jesus and caring for and loving people. I have a great relationship with my wife. I love her dearly. I talk to her daily, I spend time with her and I adore her. We've been together for over 30 years (since we were kids). What does the type of music I listen to have to do with my relationship with my wife? Absolutely nothing. I've heard songs about "cheating women" hundreds of times, but I love and trust my wife, regardless how many times someone sings a song about that subject. Same thing with my Father in Heaven, I love Him dearly. I talk to him daily in prayer. I spend time with Him by reading the Bible. Like any child, I hope that I can make my Father proud. I do that by loving my family, by working hard to provide for them, by using my talents and not wasting them. Having said all that, some song lyrics do annoy me and I usually skip over those songs or rarely ever listen to them. Venom are a good example. I love Venom's sound, respect their musical contribution to heavy metal history and I own much of their catalog but I don't listen to them often as much of their lyrics annoy me. (Of course as I am typing this I had to bring up Venom "Warhead" to listen to. Haha!) I hope that answers the question without coming off as preachy. Let me know what you think.

Scott Waters Great answer. I appreciate the time you took to respond. Myself, I am not a very religious person. I was raised in a Jewish household, and I still identify as Jewish. I sometimes have coffee with my old Rabbi, but I have not attended a religious ceremony (other than a wedding) in about 20 years. But, I respect people's religious views and observances because I was raised to be that way. It is encouraging to find people with strong beliefs whose artistic taste extends beyond ones that mirror what they already think. I am always for exploring different ideas and points of view. As for Christian metal, I was totally unaware that there was this much out there! I knew of Stryper when I was a teenager, but was unaware of all of the others. As much of a know-it-all as I think I am, it's nice to come across something that I know nothing about. All of it is then 100% new information. Thanks again for your response.

Do you have Living Sacrifice albums?

Yes, I have them all. I like their first album the best. After that their albums are patchy. Living Sacrifice have always followed the trends, first thrash, then death metal, then metalcore. I saw them on their first tour when they were still a thrash band and they played 2 or 3 songs that were not on the first album. I wish they would have recorded them in that thrash style.

Scott, thank you for that. I have not heard of them. I briefly tried to listen to them. No go for me. But thank you. I may be a little too prejudice, but upon first hearing them, it was difficult. I have recently been listening to "Headlong Flight" by Rush, and thats somewhat the grooves I was hoping for...or intensity. But that's me. I really appreciate this. This blog has open my eyes to some of the great artists out there. I do have one of Haven's and those bubbas rock it! :)
