It's also based on the Cross of Burgundy, while Alabama's is based off one of the Confederate States of America flags, primarily the Battle Flag. While the state of Alabama itself won't admit it, numerous sources from within the state government and records at the time of creation (1895) explicitly mention wanting to preserve aspects of the Confederacy, though it's still hard to tell who's being truthful and who's being bashful against Alabama at the time

Tennessee has very good symbolism as the 3 stars represent the main areas of it, I forgot the rest but when flying it is great, the blue part makes it easier to identify the flag.

If you supported slaves you would fly one of these sections and vice versa. After the war was over they changed the Maryland flag to have them both to show that Maryland was United as one.

My favorite flag as well, though I also live in SC so it’s a little biased. But honestly there are very few state flags with such marketability and recognition as the SC flag. Seriously if you go to SC then every single household has at least one palmetto tree themed home decoration 😂 Plus that shade of blue looks gorgeous when flying on a flagpole against the blue sky, and it pairs really well with the American Flag when they are flown together.

ohioans invented flight and were the first to set foot on the moon. we are in second for the most presidents and the first in most presidential assassinations. we have countless members in the entertainment industry. we have the sixth oldest music institution in the country, and several high ranking universities for various programs. chef boyardee made his name in Cleveland, the Warner bros. started in Youngstown, Wendy's fast food restaurant was founded in Columbus, the first ship to shore radio transmission happened at put-in-bay, I mean the list keeps going. Ohio is truly a remarkable state.

I think Iowa and Rhode Island deserve some credit, they have symbols and ensigns, not seals. Iowa’s is actually kinda badass
