I have a 3.2LC Kenne Bell and a Killerchiller Drag with the heat exchanger Bypass valve on my 04 Cobra. There’s nothing like a KB. It runs so cold it’s scary, you can lay your hand on the blower anytime you want no matter how long you’ve been driving...really. Coolant temps get around 38 degrees. I love it!

Kenne Bell all the way. BTW... Twin Screw and Roots style SC may be similar, but they are not the same. Kenne Bell are Twin Screw. Also, I've never had any heat issues on the street with Kenne Bell products. Kenne Bell had the technology and design right years ahead of other manufacturers.

I think there is a pretty good reason Ford/Shelby, Chrysler and Chevrolet all use positive displacement blowers on their ultra performance cars. For the street you dont have to rev the piss out of them to make boost. You wanna pull the thing to 7k through every gear you're gonna build damaging heat in anything. Red light to red light I will take the twin screws.

VMP superchargers are a tvs roots style supercharger, twin vortices supercharger, consisting of four lobe rotors. These can produce tons of power, but the twin screw superchargers, like kenne bell and whipple, offer better reliability and better performance on the Shelby GT500s. Kenne Bell superchargers are liquid cooled, which is ideal. I think it depends on the car and its usage. The 'Cat lineup uses a Magnuson tvs supercharger and from what I understand the motors are tunable to 1000hp with that supercharger,among other supercharger related upgrades being made.

I have the KB 3.6 L/C with "Custom Modified Mammoth inlet" and custom design and 3D printed supercharger by-pass piping on my GT500 along with J2Fab IC mod on my KB Bigun intercooler with custom design 3D printed 1" water inlet and outlet.First of all, the liquid cooled feature on the KB is NOT to cool the supercharger to prevent heat soak. The main purpose of that L/C feature is to cool the front rotors bearing support plate which results in cooling down the front supercharger oil. It kind of "balance the temperature in the front portion since the Mammoth inlet is cooled by the incoming outside ambient temperature. If someone tells you the L/C feature on the KB can cools down the supercharger discharge air temperature (let just say at 18 psi). That guy just simply lying to you or he/she does NOT know what is going on.Secondly, a highly modded 2.3L TVS supercharger actually makes more torque than KB 3.6. Before switching to KB L/C 3.6, I have the VMP Gen2 2.3 TVS which makes instant monster torque. After switching to KB L/C 3.6. The low end torque actually is lower than the VMP Gen2 TVS. That's why lots of people already have heard this "The KB supercharger make my Shelby much easier to drive" and that's because it does NOT produce as much low end torque as the 2.3 TVS.

The big thing is when you want to go ''full retard'', the Kenne Bell has the 4.9L monster and Whipple have the 4.5L. The new VMP perform really good, but they usually sit down at 700-800 whp on a ''efficiency zone'' whiple both KB and Whipple passes 1K mark. People talking about more fun with street application and moderate boost with VMP and new Whipple 2.9. Curious to know about someone using the giant 4.9L with baby boost *(something like 17 to 20 psi to then) to see how they perform.

Roost-style is not the same as Twin-screw style. The most telling difference is the Twin screw draws air from the back and moves it forward before dumping downward. Roots-style draws air through the top, pressurizes around the outside and straight down. Very different means of pressurizing. Twin screw is more efficient in mid to high rpm, roots produces greater boost off idle but have trouble with heat soak and internal friction by comparison. A centrifugal supercharger is the most efficient overall, but lacks the large pressure volume in the low-to-mid RPM.

Been running the Kennie Bell 3.6 Mamoth for years and I love it. Put it on the dyno and the torque and hp stayed with in 10 points all the way up to 880 which is where mine stoped making both HP & Torque. Now I could make more HP, but I need to switch my Rods first, probably will go with the Boost Rods when I make the change. I am also running long tube headers, which helps with the torque as well. Good Video.

Comparing the KB to the Whipple, the impellers on the KB is the reason KB designed the liquid cooling feature. It was to fix a problem with the extra heat from the KB impellers deforming from front to back. The idea of it being for streetability is mostly Marketing. The Whipple doesn't have that problem "as much", they have their own laundry list of problems of course. I personally think the KB is better but for 95% of the owners out there either would be fine.
@rickwilkinson1651
@rickwilkinson1651 5 жыл бұрын
You completely right on the reason on the liquid cooled blower case. A big water/ice tank with a large heat exchanger would be more efficient. The air is not in the blower long enough for the case to heat the air. The heat come from compressing the air not the air to metal contact.

So between the KB and the A/C system cooling the charge air how much parasitic draw do you give up? I'm not sure but I would imagine that the charge air is running at 200 ° F at a minimum. I'm leaning towards the Procharger complete setup just because of how it seems a bit more street friendly and also the cost affective for the average Joe. I think charge air will also be consistent for everyday driving and the times of Loss of control of the rite foot. Absolutely nothing wrong with the KB I love it but it's just out of my wallet's range, at this time . That's one beautiful KB unit. Horse power to you and be Safe. Dee. Bedrock Engineering

Smart man said, who the fuck buys a belt driven turbo. It’s slightly more efficient than older Whipple’s, but new designs like 3/4 rotor in the 3.0/3.8 are incredibly efficient. Centrifugal requires more RPM to spool the supercharger to create boost. The roots style essentially has linear boost, so it makes more power everywhere. Centrifugal design is good for one thing ( street or no prep racing ) outside of that its inferior at the top level of drag racing compared to Turbo or Screw Blowers. In a street car, linear power is more fun to drive, how often are you sitting at 6,000-8,000 rpm while driving on a street?

Isn't the Kenne Bell a Twin-Screw ? The Whipple is also a Twin-Screw. The VMP however, is a Roots Blower, or double-helix at best. The ProCharger is by far the best Supercharger for Drag (other than a Turbo setup) due to it's rising boost curve and peak HP potential when compared to positive displacement or even screw blowers. I do however agree that either a Roots or Screw Blower are best for street use due to immediate boost, not limited by RPM like a centrifugal.

Eaton VMP's are roots style and have Higher inlet temps then kenne bell and all of the tests have been done to prove kenne bell and whipple are more efficient than roots style. Vmp eatons are more torquey down low but because the kenne bell twin screw is more efficient, it gets full boost immediately and an extra 1 psi up top

Hi Bates, what are the chances of close up, full frontal shots of the 5.8 showing all the accessories and drive belt. I recently purchased a 5.4 GT500 supercharger and manifold, but my engine is a non supercharged 5.4 4v ( Australian ). So I need to see where the Alternator and other accessories ( inc. Power Steering pump ) mount. Thanks, John

All the other blowers you named have heat exchangers inside the blower/ under the blower. So what you said doesn’t make much sense

My dude, I think there needs to be some clarification. The new generations of Whipple are Water Intercooled, and any exterior intercooler can be made to be air to water intercooled as well. Kenne Bell is a good supercharger, but’s past it’s prime. The 4/6 blade design is notorious for heat, which is specifically why KB started to water intercool them. The older 3.3, 4.5 and 5.0 along with the New 3.0 and 3.8, Whipple absolutely is the best for a Modular or Coyote design. Whipple runs cooler air temps, better efficiency and capable of spinning higher which is beneficial to the higher revving modular motors. Whipple is destroying the factory stock competition with the design, have both Dodge and Ford a head of Chevy and Eaton aka Magnuson. VMP is an Eaton design rotor, which is inferior to both the Kenne Bell and old/new Gen Whipples. Whipple has factory Mustangs running 7’s with their 3.0 and F150’s running 9.1 with the older 2.9!

What does FBO mean exactly? Like what do you need? Cause I heard it’s an intake, exhaust and headers. Like is there other things you need to be considered FBO?

Wait isnt it like the roots sc is the most inefficient sc because it cant be intercooled so it basically rams more air into the engine but has no way of cooling it down someone please help me out on this one.
