WHATS WRONG WITH MY DOG | OFF GRID CABIN | HOMESTEAD

In this DIY off grid cabin build, my dog got sick without warning or knowledge of what could be wrong and doing chores around the homestead, so if your new here we finished the construction of the charred board and batten exterior on the timber frame cabin on the homestead in the Great Smoky Mountains using self-reliant skills from both modern and traditional hand tools in the woodwork from our own sawmill, we incorporated raised bed gardening, have a hobbit style chicken house pen, compost toilet, added a front porch to the cabin, an exterior rock foundation and the interior using wildwood trim from slab wood, and starting the plans for our new sawmill building, workshop and barn. Mortise and tenon are the basic frame work on the 7 x 7 post and beam along with the 7 x 10 beams that support the floor joist. We hope you will follow us through the final stages of the cabin build, root cellar, basecamp and future buildings for the homestead.

I'm glad smoky is doing better. When you said he was throwing up and foaming at the mouth ,I thought for a minute he might have gotten bit by a rabid animal. But I'm glad to hear he's doing much better. your garden is looking good. Everyone needs a garden the way prices are going up on food. Are you clearing out done trees and bushes. The place looks good.

It was so wonderful to see Smoky running down to the creek! My heart was breaking for him, sounds like he was really, really sick. One thing about dogs and cats both, when they are sick one day is like four days of us being sick, they get worse so quick. So hope he is back up to "Smoky Speed" now. We all love him so much. My little guy tinker, had the same thing , the veterans here in Indiana told me not to bring him in to their office because he could be contagious he past away two days later, there has been alot of people here that has gone through this with their dogs , something is going on and the veterans aren't telling us, now my other dog has been sick , I have been praying that someone will find out what is really happening, love and prayers,

Switched dry dog food three times ( big mistake). Plus the German Shepherd eats June bugs an grasshoppers. Can food for the old Shih Tzu s .

Prayers he gets over from what he has. I know it isn't good for them to chew on wood. I would like to try ramps some time, because they don't grow around Iowa. Not that I know of.

Maybe nothing ,but I noticed the black lab chewing on something white or shiny while you were talking to Brian. Possibly a piece of metal, aluminum or something he cant digest . I just noticed he was chewing on it for a while and it sounded hard ,and at one point he dropped it. And it was small . Just thought I would mention it , you could watch the video to see it for yourself.

Richard, watering at the bottom of each plant helps the plant as it has a need for immediate water. However, water placed away from the plant does more. As the plant draws water it causes the roots to expand and the water picks up more nutrients needed by the plant.

Sure enjoyed the video after they got our power back on. It was out for an hour and half which wasn't bad at all. Your video was really good. Sure hope Smoky gets over whatever he ate and quits chewing on everything especially the plastic he had. The gardens and berry patches are looking great. Keep up the good work and videos and won't be long before your helpers will be there more often. Stay safe and keep up the fun. Fred.

He might have bitten, licked or eaten a toad/frog. His intestines are irritated hence the bad stools, vomiting and excess saliva secretions. Watch them at the creek especially when they dig into/scratch at the sand banks. I've had a similar thing happen to one of my dogs. There was a point that you were standing next to the tree that it was on the other day you told smoking not to eat it it was poison well he was chewing on it behind your back I wonder if that would be it

Rudy, just remembered that too and most definitely a big possibility. Went and double checked the previous video and he's constantly chewing on some or the other plant material, including the poisonous stuff. 😟 An option is to spray lemon or vinegar slightly diluted with water, on poisonous plants around the house.

I bet it is a wild onion we call dog onions mildly poisonous dogs sometimes chew or eat them I think they must associate them with the ones we eat

@@SmokyMountainOutpost well most dogs know by instinct if certain plants are poisonous but he could have got ahold of a stick that may have had some poison ivy on it no telling he is so rambunctious he is always pulling at the roots while he is playing in the creek no telling but he looks like he is mostly back to himself hope so
