@@Harvz78 Drag racing is ok, if you want to learn racing do road races, off road, and oval. Find out which you like. Now they even do rock crawling. Or even try sled pulling or drifting. It might be a bit premature to say what's boring before you've tried or mastered it.

I've had plenty of both -- electric is SO much easier to deal with. I'd rather fix parts and not mess around with gas these days. It's more fun driving than wrenching.

I concur. A lot of people here are viewing this video as if it’s taking sides when in all reality I thought it would make a good video. I personally own both variants but my gas version is the E30 BMW M3 with front hydraulic brakes and an upgraded OBR motor and a drill start motor ( Dewalt- Team Yellow 😈). And I knew from the start that my electric Porsche would win even if he had an obnoxious motor, 2/3 speed transmission etc. the Porsche is not stock!!!!!! It literally is like a tracer bullet going down the range fast. It’s actually unbelievable. You gotta see it to believe it

Electric still outperforms gas, gas has the advantage in longer races because batteries are slower to change than just adding fuel.

@@H3dgeh0g12 The car with blue lights is electric, I started with RC cars in Germany in the mid-80s. Over the years I have won a couple trophies for electric racing. The batteries have improved a lot over the years. Fuel is still better for endurance racing. R.O.A.R. Races used to be 4 minutes, per heat. I'm not sure what they are now.

$1350 for the car, add another $500 for the battery & charger, add another $1000 for a castle creations / hobbywing / MGM Motor and ESC combo, add $500 on a remote, add another few hundred dollars on hardened steel gears / differentials / drive shafts so they don’t snap due to the power the total keeps going up

@@insanegnyc You running two esc? A castle and an MGM in one car? it's the same amount I spend on my 3D planes, except I have 7 servos to run, a car has one servo for steering. My large airframe runs a DA120 gasser and the motor is already $1500. Only difference is that I can go all directions in the air for $3k. I sold my cars cause I got bored going just left and right/fast or slow, spent all those in exchange for plane stuff and never went back.

Petrols are just more realistic, just the fact that internal combustion propels car and noise and smoke is so awesome. Runtime is also on completely different level I can run until bored.... Never had that with electric. They slower but still fast enough to have fun with proper zenoah engine... Dealing with petrol is not that fun but still better than dealing with charging batteries 😅

Better to have both. internal combustion engine turning a motor/generator with axial flux variable gap permanent magnet motors. Drop in ultracapacitors for peak power and regen braking. Get rid of the battery and run the engine using liquified hydrogen fuel.

@na3oomhi5 you can buy gas or electric variants with different types of bodies. I got mines at DDMRACING. I bought a e30 gas variant and a Porsche 911 body for electric. Look it up under 1/5 scale FG

And horsepower, by a landslide gas decked out is like maybe 5 horsepower and still heavier then an electric 1/5 scale mamba monster with 25hp not to mention electric has better weight distribution takes less space, dosnt get as hot as fast, and is far, far more reliable, I have 2 gas 1/5 scales and they collect dust cuz other then sounding cool they feel sluggish when compared to my Arrma limitless and modded DBXL 2

These “gas” engines can hit 40k rpm and burn 30%+ nitromethane. Not exactly comparable to a gasoline engine.

And that's where the advantage goes to the electric. 30K is great for a gas motor. On the other hand, you can use 100K rpm electric motors.

This is what companies are saying trying to sell their slower petrol cars. The “sound” the “passion”. When in reality it’s a cop out for slower, more expensive to maintain, more moving parts, more maintenance and higher running costs, less safe. But it sounds good 😂 I’ve owned both. And driving a bat shit crazy fast electric car that’s cost me zero in maintenance or running costs for 4 years thanks to solar. It’s laughable to think that gas is a better “experience”. Ain’t no way I would go back.

You gotta start off in a roll already.. that electric car gets power immediately. The gas has to wait for the trigger to be pulled release the gas explode push a piston . It’s like not fair. You should race with you starting at a rolling pass. Then it will be equal. Just like the electric car it would have power in the system already . Lol hope I’m explaining it right 😅

Thats awesome! Speed runs with electric are getting popular. The Arma electric car is hitting 222. So far I have seen 100mph has cars. But for gas, it will all come down to power amd gearing. Just like the salt flats, Nitro will need a pusher car for max speeds. Someone needs to do a nitro with that type of effort.

It looks to me like the electric car gets up to speed quicker but dies out faster. While the gas takes a little longer to pick up speed it’s over all speed is a higher limit.

Video doesn’t do it justice. I know for a fact that the gas powered FG has a top speed of 45-50 mph because I own 2. Even the formula 1 edition is the same. The electric is faster as far as acceleration and top speed hands down

That would be fun to see. We actually have permission to be at the parking lot complex after hours and have been racing for many years. It’s pretty chill. We go with our rc cars, camping chairs and just have fun. The people who are in the hobby are all races and ethnicities ages ranges from 14-70+ good vibes all around. Sometimes cops will have to patrol the area because real cars will do donuts or w.e and they will spectate us just because it’s cool to watch.

Hobby grade remote control cars come in many different scales ( sizes ) and power plants ( electric, gas or Nitro ). What you just saw was a 1/5 scale FG ModellSport one being electric and one being gas.

I just lobe the ease of electric. No need to mess with the mixture on a nitro engine every rime you go to run it and throughout the day as the atmospheric conditions change. That said, i hope to save up enough money to get my old classic Kyosho Burns running sometime this year. All it needs is an engine and a starter box of i cant get a pull or electric start on the .21. And of course fuel. There really is nothing else like a high strung nitro engine coming on the powerband arpunt 30k rpm. And the smell. I imagine that is what heaven smells like :-)

The electric produces torque as soon as the power is applied. The gas needs the revs to come up. What would be an interesting video, same cars maximum speed. The result could be different.

I started out with gas cars but then switched over to brushless electric... But there's guys out there that can really get those gas cars up to speed! Those guys over at thunder rc got some of the fastest gas vehicles i've ever seen!!!

Me too now I have a bunch 😂 I suggest starting out with nitro. Get a traxxas nitro with the E-Z start. T-Maxx 3.3 / Revo 3.3 / Jato 3.3 / slash 2wd or 4wd 3.3….. you can buy used for cheap because people don’t like nitro because it needs constant tuning ( adjusting the fuel & air ratio ) because of temperature / humidity change.

Brushless changed the game ages ago. There just isn't any upside to rejecting technology. And back then we had the same Electric haters who said they would never bla-bla-bla. No different than with the EV revolution we are living in full size vehicles now.

Wow... i got 2 motorcycles for $3000, and now that i think about it, my lifted 4x4 Sequoia too lol. Ill stick to my $100 modded electric machine that still does 40mph lol..

That’s nice and all but these are 1/5 scale. Half my size I’m 6’3. If you were there at the race or see one in person you would be in shock and understand.

And I still think my brushless Revo 2.0 would be faster :-) as is (stock) it does 60-70 mph on 6s.
