A lot of dashcams for cars have either a battery or a capacitor depending on the one you get. The capacitor model is better because it handles extreme heat better so the camera can shutdown properly when power is lost instead of having a battery fail over time and corrupt the video files.

Check out the iFixit guide, they had to cut it in half themselves. While there is a threaded ring, it's all glued in pretty well. Now they did go about everything else in the stupidest way imaginable though.

Apple probably sprayed clear plastic over the bare wires. It usually does that. All the best electronics companies do that. I noticed that Samsung does not always do it

Maybe Apple have added bleeder resistors for safety... Maybe the capacitor terminals are coated with a non-conductive material... It doesn't really matter though! They're high voltage capacitors and SHOULD be discharged safely! That's a rule of thumb everyone should use in every situation! They've just used a rotary tool/Dremel to cut through the middle of the speaker. They could have damaged the capacitors. They probably would have shorted if hit, but that doesn't make it anymore safe to touch. There's nothing wrong with notifying them about health and safety issues, especially in situations like this where they think high voltage capacitors are simple batteries. While they can be charged and hold a charge much like batteries, they can also hold a charge strong enough to kill you! I too disliked watching him grind and hack while the speaker were powered on. I seriously fear that their lack of safety eventually will hit them!

Dave fier this speaker would probably not work great for what you are wanting to do, I would suggest look on you local Craigslist and eBay, and find your local flea markets and look there, for a pair of used bookshelf speakers and a integrated amplifier. It would probably not cost a ton of money, and you would (depending on what you buy) get sound that is a million times better than this speaker. Just estimating, you could get a decent pair of speakers and a receiver for around $150 USD. For the receiver I would look for yamaha, Denon (although that name will probably be expensive), or onkyo. For the speakers I would look for Polk, jbl, Boston Acoustics, maybe some older infinity speakers, older klipsch speakers, mission electronics (although these are only in Great Britain and are hard to find on this side of the pond, when they do show up, they usually are great deals!) or audioengine. If you buy audioengine, it will be a little more expensive, but you will not need a receiver. I would not suggest buying Sony or samsung or lg, etc. because while they make great TVs, CD players, and so on, they do not make very good speakers. In fact, I have yet to hear a speaker from any of these names I liked. If you would like more suggestions, please let me know, I’m always happy to help.

And tell me what you want to get before you buy anything, because all companies have good stuff and bad stuff.
