Never thought I would cry at the start of a motorcycle.. this was my grandpas bike. Thank you so much for this!

I can't believe I'm watching this and that I found it on my KZfaq. I'm 77 years old. When I was 19 years old, I owned a 1955 KH. Had no idea what I really had, just that it was a Harley and that was cool. I weighed 150 lb and I was in heaven. 25 years later I find out how rare they were. What a great find. Good Luck.

I never cease to be amazed watching your work. Running that Matchless was a pleasure to watch with Chris jumping into that sidecar. Matt and Chris working on this classic K and getting it running is something special.

I love that you guys do this, carrying on your dads legacy bringing these machines out of the darkness and letting them shine once again, sometimes I don't know why, maybe I'm just a fat old wuss but seeing some a these start brings a little tear of joy.

I've always had a weird thing for K models, don't ask me why. I've had my eye on that black one you have upstairs for years. This one sounds great. It always amazes me how these bikes can run so well after sitting for decades. I dig the Matchless as well. I went through a British thing in the 80's, so I also have an appreciation for that stuff. Great video, as always!

We visited the museum three weeks ago and I was in my happy place! I grew up on small import bikes but was surrounded by Harley’s. In 1966 I got my first Wards Riverside 50cc built by Bennelli. Eighteen or so bikes of all brands left me indelibly scarred.😃 I love ‘em all. I bought my raffle tickets so let’s see if I’m destined to add a knucklehead to my long list of favorite motorcycles.

Thanks for this one....My Dad's 1955 KHK is literally in my dining room on a work table.... Dad bought it new in 55 ....it was his only means of transportation when he got it.... Last tagged in 1973..... We started to restore when he was still alive.... Talked to your Dad about it years ago....He was great guy..... Been put on the back burner do to just life.!!! I remember when telling your Dad about it He said to me " What are you waiting for ? " He was right.... I got to get to the front of my priorities.... This video is inspiring...Thanks.

This is my favorite video that you have ever done. It took me back to a time in my youth that I will cherish forever. My first bike that I ever had after being old enough to legally drive was a 1952 KHK and it was awesome. Faster than any one could believe and took me on more adventures than I can even remember. OH the stories I could tell. What I wouldn't give to have that setting in my living room right now.

I love the information and history. It's so easy getting caught up in something that teases you and keeps leading you in the wrong direction when trying to get something running. I have had the same thing happen to me on old tractors and gravelys. But it's all part of what we love and suffering through the bad just makes the good that much sweeter. It's always amazing to me how well old stuff starts and runs and works.

My first Harley was a 56 KH. I paid $150 for it running. Guys who wanted to race "that 45" got a quick lesson! First foot shift, hand clutch, first unit construction engine/transmission. Right foot shift was because of flat track racing heritage. The street models were produced to justify the racing models.The reason they went from 45 in( for 750cc class) to 55 cu.in. 883cc. is because a 1000 cc class had been created. 883cc allowed for some boring as the engine wore, without exceeding race specs.Right foot shift was for constant left turns during flat track racing(without brakes).It helps to keep right foot under shifter, and left foot right over the brake, to buy time to realize the opposite controls. Early models required splitting the cases to access transmission. Later models introduced the infamous (breakage)"trap door". That's most of what I was told/read/remember... Thanks for keeping alive the history of the machines that created this passion! There is no other understanding that compares to riding a new old Harley.

Ya need a small Concrete Mixer, like Bricklayers use, to clean Tanks. I used to work in a Restoration Shop and we'd fill rusty Tanks with Nuts and Bolts and then strap them to a Board and strap the Board to the front of the Mixer. Turn them for a hr or so and it would make even the RUSTIEST Tanks clean up like brand new 🤠

The KRTT in TT and flat track trim was an amazingly fast bike. That was the successor to the great little WR's that did so well in Class C racing. I once owned a '53 KK 45" bike. I love flatheads!

I’m in the UK and do not know much about Harley bikes but have to say that this is is a stunningly good looking machine I would love to ride. I really hope it will be enjoyed at your museum.

I owned a 1956 KHK #KHK1812 for a a few years.

I have been riding Harleys since the 1970,s and I lived closer you would have a volunteer to help even if it means sweeping floors. I love what you do to keep these national treasures running. I visited once years ago but you were close to closing time and only got to spend 30 minutes or so. Please keep doing what you are doing.

Bought a 54 KH back in 1971 when I got out of the Army. Very fast bike as I remember.

You guys nailed it and brought back great memories. Coincidentally I was born in 1954 Kevin Hall “KH” and my first new Harley was a 1974 right foot shift Sportster. Still on Harleys fifty years later.

I like you guys enthusiasm. 66 year old bike freak that grew up with honda's (CB-100, SL-125,CB-350G) went it the military, after the Nimtz (Marine Air) came back to Oklahoma, bought a brand new '75 Trident (drove back to SC last 2 years of enlistment), wore that puppy out over the next 20 years......then in the late 90's bought a '72 Daytona 500 T100R...needed rings, electrical work...but it had fresh paint (blue/white) and looked cherry. right side shift, positive ground...all that weird stuff the brits do. 🙄 No one has ever laid a hand on my bikes except me (even my '79 CBX base gasket) my TWO daily drivers today....an '18 KLR-650 (bought new, my second car) and the Triumph...I will always be old school. Dad gum Micheal Parks and 'Then came Bronson' STILL has infected my brain....all these years later from bein a kid. good lookin scoot

Have never been a HD fan .... over priced...over weight... the bowling pin years... but always had a soft spot for a 45 flattie... classic lines.... so, for my 65th birthday I purchased a 42' in period civilian trim... with, according to my old school HD buddies, has no re-pop parts.... Since then, I purchased a Type 3 in military police trim. I try and get young riders to ride something old...prior to the 60's.... no electric starter.... foot shift tank shifter... these old machines have a soul... something magical .... once you have time in the saddle... you understand ... and appreciate the progress of motorcycles today... we all need a motorcycle that doesn't need us.... mine is parked downstairs... (RE 650 Interceptor) ..... I encourage young riders to find.. and keep... a piece of the pass.... 😎

There's something beautiful about that engine.. The flatheads are angular, unit construction, I always loved the K models. As a kid I searched high and low but nobody that had one would come off them for a reasonable price but then, neither would I. It was great seeing it run and go. Restore that one, sell tickets and I am in, brother!

Back in the day there was a old guy in Corpus Christi, Texas, named Charlie Mckenzie, he was at one time the Harley dealer there. He had all these trophies from racing this old k model called the RE ROOSTER, according to legend because of the red clay tail it left behind. Saw the bike once, but that was it.
