A Short Hike completely changed my perspective on single player games, my reason for gaming, and what it means have fun. Here's my review on the short but incredibly sweet game from Adam Robinson-Yu.

This game is really something special, there is no other game that is more pure and fun and endearing than A Short Hike. Great video!

Man I could listen to you calmly talk all day Lovely video and message. A short hike is such a charming game, it excells in just letting you take a breather, tap out from your day to day and just feel a sweet child-like joy for a little while.

I loved how the game touched in themes of solitude (all we internet people are somewhat lonely, aren't we, and Claire seems like she is like this too), and Claire accumulates strength to do the hike from friendships with people.

This is an absolutely lovely video! I slightly longer game with similar vibes (although it is 2d) is spirit farer, the characters ooze with personality and the mechanics are really satisfying. I remember playing it during the evenings and the downtime I had while on a beach vacation, and it is truly an unforgettable little game to play! P.S. just noticed how criminally under-viewed this video is, three blessings to the algorithm gods 🙏🙏🙏

Thank you so much for letting me know about Spirit Farer! I will definitely check it out. I feel like as I get older, shorter more bite sized games that deliver a huge impact is my personal preference! Also, thank you for your kind words. It really is the highest praise when people tell me they’re glad the algorithm sent me their way!! Take care, and hopefully the algorithm gods will bless us with another meeting in the future :)

I loved this game. I'm surprised there's no follow up or DLC. I'm sure the dev is sitting on an island somewhere, enjoying the fruits of their labour

i know people say hey this or that game changed my life bla bla and its some epic heros journey or how darksouls changed their life and made them more disciplined,,, this game changed my life, a short hike taught me how to slow the fuck down. this game genuinely got me out of a depressive and i just cannot do it justice with words. it was a game about taking an annoying situation and running with it. a game about just being chill for a second. it really helped, silly as it sounds.

Hey usamaali736, thanks for watching and sharing your story in the comments. I really feel what you're saying man. I definitely had a similar experience with A Short Hike, it felt like a warm bowl of chicken noodle soup for the soul. It helped me, and I'm so glad that it's helped you. I think that's the beauty of video games. I hope I conveyed this well enough in the video... Thanks for watching and hope to see you again in the next one :)

It's kind of insane how much space this game has taken up in my brain over the last 5 years. I completed the game in under two hours, but it was just such a pure fun game that it stuck with me. I could recommend a lot of games. A Hat In Time is great, so is The Real Texas, Celeste, Lil Gator Game, Frog Detective, etc. Still A Short Hike somehow has something special about it.

Hey TheDuzx, thanks you for this great comment. I agree so much. Such small game, with an enormous impact on me and my thoughts! I really feel like there is something absolutely special going on with this game. Fun, for the sake of fun and joy, for the sake of joy. It really changed my life for the better!

What's the point of that pixelation shader? It's obviously just downscaling the original high-res thing. Our displays can show more pixels :/
@yoncreator
@yoncreator 6 күн бұрын
Hey Paxcoder, my guess is that it’s a stylistic choice! I personally really like the pixel shader effect over the smooth 3D graphics. It really is just preference at the end of the day, which is why I really appreciate that the dev included options for each player to change it as they like!
@paxcoder

@@yoncreator Don't you think big pixels are a bit overused? And this game really doesn't need it. But yeah, nice that it can be turned off. Although, would be nice if the rest of the stuff wasn't pixelated if you do that either.

You didn't really answer how the game "changed your life". Isn't that a bit hyperbolic?
@yoncreator
@yoncreator 6 күн бұрын
Hey bennemann, thanks for watching and leaving a comment! The game really changed the way I look at video games my how I spend my time with them, since they’re my biggest hobby! I’m trying KZfaq for the first time, so appreciate the feedback and thanks for checking the vid out!

@@yoncreator You're right, you didn't answer the question directly (not that I remember at least) but it can be pieced together indirectly, now that you mention it. Since you're new, the only thing I would ask of you is... mind the excessive clickbait. I know clickbait is unfortunately the name of the game and basically necessary to be hyperbolic these days for the algorithm to favor you (the sad state of the internet and of people's attention spans), but it's also really annoying, especially when creators don't really deliver on the clickbait's promise.
