pretty sure touch move only applies to your piece. It just means you have to move the piece you touched, I don't think it matters that he touched his opponents piece

@@alekhinesgun9997 It does matter. FIDE points out that the rule is actually both "touch move" and "touch take". You touch your piece, you have to move it. You touch an opponent's piece, you have to capture it if possible.

Yes a temporary loss of his Q that would have netted him a free N via a royal fork (recapturing black's Q) had it not been subverted by the inbetween check. MC had to play fast as he was giving away huge time odds: 30s v 3m. All human players, MC included, will mess up a fair amount when down to just a few ticks left on clock. Still crazy he overlooked it. I suspect A would never claim he outplayed MC. In one sense, he 'beat' him. But he didn't beat 'beat' him. Time odds ftw! Fun...but not really personally satisfying. Incredible story to share (embellish) though amongst your friends.

Technically that game didn’t count due to the board being set up incorrectly. Magnum hasn’t lost yet at all.

yeah this is not how it works in chess, opening knowledge is incredibly important and the idea that a grandmaster won’t be able to punish a beginners “unpredictable” strategy aka lack of knowledge and planning….is just very incorrect

@@MrOfstring he literally said "Allowing A to win a free pawn." That's not a free pawn, that pawn was defended by the bishop. So his blunder wasn't the free pawn, it was giving away the queen after that by taking the other knight. And if you play that sequence out you'll see that he literally would have won had he done that.

@@sandman4068 I know, but that doesn't matter, it's just a trade at that point, pawn for bishop for knight, if he moves his rook he's playing right into magnus, because that's even less defense he has around his king now.

being drunk can actually improve someone who is very skilled at chess, especially in fast games. It causes the player to question their decisions less, and when you're Magnus you can win off of instinct alone against a beginner. I get it's a joke but it's kinda interesting how this works
