Hong Kong is generally recognised as part of China. Some countries still don't recognise this. Hong Kong & Taiwan does not wish to be part of China. Back in 1960 most countries recognised the ROC (Taiwan) but 1989 most switched to PRC and now there's only a few countries that recognises Taiwan and or Hong Kong as their own country. A great example of not recognizing both would be Bhutan. They're literally right below China and they don't recognise neither (Mainly because they are afraid that China would try and "claim" them) Currently an example of a country who recognise ROC are Vatican City and for PRC, is a large majority. Russia, America, India, practically almost all of Africans countries.
