Once i was in an Indian restaurant in muscat and some omani guys ordered an indian curry with repeated instructions to go mild on the spices. The waiter shook his head and went away. When the food came, one of the Omani guys almost had tears in his eyes. That’s when I understood how serious this matter is.

The same happened to my mexican colleague. We both went to the Czech Republic for an audit. I have ordered Veg dum biryani, roti, and vegetarian Kolhapuri curry at an indian restaurant. He looked at me and said, "As a Mexican, we also eat a lot of spice (chilly flakes)." He wants to eat Chiken Vindaloo curry and chicken dum biryani. I said, "Try my veg items. If you are ok with the spice, then order as per your wish." He ate 2 spoons and tears rolling from his eyes. His face became red. I quickly ordered a mango lassi and gave it to him. He said you guys eat crazy spicy food.
