I have a theory the shoveled plants either go to the zen garden or probably potted and placed into our house just to chill with us:)

When I play endless and I need to replace a plant due to it's low health or other reasons and I use the shovel on it, I think of it as that specific plant retiring and living the rest of it's short life out in the wild.
