First of all I am not claiming to be an expert. But over the last few years I have learnt a few things,
and I will continue to learn.
One of the things that I see often is young roses needing a drink. It’s very difficult to explain and a complex issue involving many factors.
In this video I try and show you something that I forced onto one of my roses. Deliberately dehydrating it. Then showing the recovery.
The dehydrated rose was filmed last night and then watered. This morning you see the result.

Jay Jay you dont intrude, you educate and enlighten and have certainly helped me loads, wether its replant, blind stems, overfeeding, tonic's (without the gin lol), and most importantly revealing the beautiful roses you have or taking us on a tour of the nurseries . This video very useful to myself as im very quick to dead head, ill try not to be in future and just get the roses a drink:) Thanks

Another interesting and insightful Jay Jay experiment - with pretty conclusive results. As for posting too many videos, no way! You post as many as you like Jay Jay, we'll watch them. I always think if people don't want to watch videos, they don't have to.

I get that nik but I know how annoying it can be to see a feed fill up quickly. Instagram I just can’t get to grips with. I check in the morning by evening it’s over 200 photos to catch up on. And I don’t wanna go that way on yt. It will calm down though I promise! :)

3:58 Your Amadeus is glorious! Lucky that you are not in Ohio, your Amadeus would freeze down to 3 feet or less from the ground every winter. So aggravating. January and February I cover my vulnerable roses with heaps of black, woven weed barrier that I darg over from my vegetable garden. The larger the rose plant, the more arduous the task.

We live in the southwest USA. The summer temperatures are 100+ and dry for many days in a row. Growing roses here is very hard. We’ve lost many rose buses due to the heat.

Hello Jay, nicely explained importance of hydration in plants. That is Porcelain Parfuma not Beverly. I have Beverly rose blooms upright flat cup shaped blooms, very smooth leaves and has strong fragrance. Delightful Parfuma look very beautiful.

You think it’s porcelain? Wow. I’ve seen it in the flesh it’s one of them roses it can change alot with weather. That is fact. I’ve seen it with kordes videos looking completely different.

Yes! I never heard of porcelan rose here in aus but we do have Perfume Passion (aka beverly as the USA names it) which looks like yours except mines in its 2nd year and the blooms are even bigger - the bush has gained about 1 meter of growth in the last growing season. Beverly/Perfume Passion is probably one of the top rated for me from Kordes - fragrant, and extremely wild with growth/health/ blooming non stop - I would prob recommend planting it out rather than keeping it in the small pot as it really takes off in the ground for me.

That was Interesting experiment but cruel . I thought that was mum in a million you featured. I saw porcelain parfuma at lin’s garden and it was more darker almost purple. You’re too modest Jay!! If you’re an amateur that would make me a total beginner😮😂

Very informative content. Thank you for showing us. I got confused about my young Roald Dahl, when blooms wilted in the sun.I thought it preferred shade. In fact it was dehydrated. Your Porcelain Parfuma does not look like mine, neither bloom nor leaves. My flower is cool pink with lilac centre and slight wavy petals. The fragrance strong and unique. Leaves are tough. I’ve seen Beverly/ Pink Perfection rose. It does indeed look like yours. Smells sweet old rose, much like Mill on the floss ( I think).

Thanks Lin. It’s possible your brother nailed it. Mum in a million. I just looked and golden valley do sell it but not in there fragrant range for some reason! Your Roald Dahl yeah it’s all a learning process. My Madame Alfred I was the exact same when I had it on my back fence. It’s just a very thirsty rose especially when potted. But we learn these things. :)

Hi Jay Jay never intruding always interesting. I wondered about that rose it didn't have that antique old fashioned look about it and the colour wasn't right, I hope you find out from your supplier what it is and that they put it right for you. My roses are having to fend for themselves at the moment because I can't even get to them so watering I'm pretty lucky - the weather has been pretty horrid and rainy/showers most days, the landscapers are hoping to be out of here by Wed next week so that will be a happy get my garden back day for me 🥰 Thanks for the video, always learning, take care.

Jay Jay, You're never intruding. We all love seeing your roses and both Ken and I have said to each other how much we learn from you. This was an interesting watch. I don't always feel like watering my pots and containers and if I'm in one of those lethargic moods, I always make sure that my roses and hanging baskets get done. I'm happy to leave the other plants but not my roses and baskets.

Lovely Wendy. If you’re in a lethargic mood and it’s not a sunny hot day, look for the flaccid flowers!:) if the petals they are erectus, they can wait till morning :)

Come the end of your video, 'no' you're not intruding. If I'd not wanted to watch it I'd have turned it off or just cancelled it. Did you give it any Viagra when you watered it? No, I can't help you out with any of that stuff. Seriously, all very interesting. Watering is something, I'm sure, that many busy people sadly don't get around to. I deadheaded my Rural England this morning before the rain that's forecast for tomorrow. New shoots coming along very nicely on it. Cheers! Drinks all round. P.

@Jay_Jay
@Jay_Jay Ай бұрын
Happy birthday for yesterday! Your Vanessa bell sorry I can’t tell you. Sometimes even the most healthy of roses can act up. It can be shock, hydration, infection or disease. I have a rose that was doing very well and it’s leaves just started to drop. I asked many rose people and nobody really knew the answer. How did the leaves drop out of interest, was it blackspot or mildew or something?

how often do you water your potted roses? thanks!
@Jay_Jay
@Jay_Jay 29 күн бұрын
Hi there, so many variables to consider with that question. I just typed up a huge shpeel but deleted it down to prevent you from dying of boredom. If your top inch or two of soil in the pot is dry, it needs water. but ultimately saucers are great to use if you just keep these topped up at the bottom of the pot, if you ensure they are full of water so the rose can sip you’ll be good.
