Ain't No Way is just an amazing performance (along with every other song she's sang in) because she can belt that high note from chest voice along with switching to head voice in that same note, just blows my mind. Her range and power and control is insane and highly slept on.

She is going to be one of the best female vocalist of our time, and she is way underrated, I think it’s time we give her all the credit she deserves, not just in glee, but for everything she’s done, that woman has the voice of an angel, and can sing anything, she can sing the phonebook and make it sound great! Who has that kind of range? It’s no wonder you never see any glass in any of the scenes, she would shatter them all!

I love this so much. She's so talented. The in-show thing about Rachel being a better singer is so not true after Mercedes came into the picture. From a classical point of view, Rachel has more of a Broadway sound (nasally and easily projected. Think Elsa, or Rachel's mom). Mercedes was able to do all of that and more. Kind of an insult to contribute saying Rachel was best after it was proven that others could stand next to her without being blown away.

For me, the real difference between Mercedes and Rachel started out as a great Broadway belter and ended as a great Broadway belter. There was no appreciable difference between the way she sang her first song and her last song on the show. Mercedes, OTOH, grew as a singer and a performer throughout her entire run on the show. She started out with a voice that was powerful but unpolished. By the end, she could sing any song, in any genre, flawlessly. Amber/Mercedes was never given her due for having a voice that is magnificently versatile.

Number 15 is probably the most impressive one though. It's one thing to sing like you're not human but it is another to do it while being emotional serenading a friend and crying AND still slaying. This performance deserves an award or something.
