It is only because they don't know their Bible. There is a reason for why Jesus on the cross was offered a sponge, or as it is really described, a "Stylo Spongium", a sponge on a stick, i.e. a toilet brush / bum cleaner! The humiliation of Jesus was part of the prophecy. So stupid morons that think they are defending Christianity, are in reality just exposing their Bible ignorance. I would have no problem with piss Christ as the altar painting in my church.

This is a bit different, because while islam forbids any depictions of the prophet, christianism's history is built around imagery. Christ himself is the image of god! The crucifix, the stained glass, the paintings... One of the first things you learn about biblical painting is that they were more than just illustrations of biblical scenes; they were metaphors, for current political and social climates, personal reasons related to the one who commissioned the art... I still think Seranno's art is of pretty bad taste and I don't like it, but this makes sense, christian symbols are meant to be "played" with

In my honest opinion, this individual isn’t an artist. However, that’s a very subjective matter. One could argue that he is inciting hate. Yet, it’s important to note that Christianity isn’t a discriminated group. Christianity and other religious groups are known for discrimination and hate far more often and can be ridiculed. I only see a problem if this is applied to race and place of origin.
