For those of you just joining us, welcome! We're Vic and Jo and we've been narrowboating around the UK for the last few years on our 54ft narrowboat Zero. Two years ago we decided to give up our jobs in the city and add another boat to our fleet in hope of turning it into a travelling cafe and becoming full time boating baristas.

Just ordered your cookbook and lovely Holly mug. Whenever he saws your lovely cakes my hubby always says to me you should make more cakes. I say to him the trouble is we eat them which he says that is the point. I will have no excuses now when I get your book. Shame you had to suffer with the hayfever. My cousin got stuck for 4 months once up in Scotland when the canal burst it's banks near Falkirk, he spent the whole winter with no electric hook up like he has on his mooring Lovely Vlog can't believe how big William is getting. Was wondering when the book will be released, I've purchased but wondering when you are having them sent out. Take care and hope you get Holly with you soon.

I so enjoyed the variety of this vlog. Seeing you all having fun tenting, plus the farm animals, was fantastic to watch. William really is becoming attuned with all things nature, and it is all down to his wonderful upbringing. I hope the 2 boats are now together following the bridge fiasco.

We're moored right by Holly, she's fine, been very well behaved. And we're stuck behind the same broken bridge (along with like 15 other boats)! 😕 CRT plan to close the Macclesfield in 2 weeks, I sure hope we can be gone by then, home is at least a week away by boat! Next update, tomorrow (28th). I hope CRT can organise an evacuation!

Good luck with escaping! CRT certainly ought to allow trapped boats down Marple or Bosley locks no matter when they manage to fix the lift bridge.

@@WaterwaySongs that seems right, yes. But the lift bridge sounds like a major difficulty, given poor relations with the farmer who owns the land. 😏

@@christinerigden1403 I don't know about the farmer but if the bridge was damaged by a presumably tall vehicle it seems probable that the farmer might be the owner and the cause of the damage. It's not helpful if the farmer is uncooperative. I must say it is difficult to visualise a tall enough vehicle getting down that track.

I love to use google maps to check out where the canals you are travelling on are. Today, when I checked out Bugsworth Basin I was excited to see Holly The Cafe Boat was listed by name and with an orange coffee symbol on the map at Bugsworth Basin! Is that something you can do that I haven't noticed before?

Anyone can add a pin for a business. But in my experience Google often add a pin more quickly than they remove it or accept an edit. Some pins have a 'Is this your business?' box(I don't see it here) It's possible Jo & Vic could take over the pin and get edits accepted faster,,, idk. I wonder -where Holly is serving its next coffees -if the creator of the pin will pop back and keep it updated !?

Another great video. I live locally and our house backs onto this canal. The engineers are coming back tomorrow to inspect the bridge but it looks as though the bridge is going to be out of action for another fortnight at least. As a note of info for viewers from previous vids the next two working bridges are the swing bridge that a man and his dog (Inca) helped Jo with, and then the lifting bridge that Jo had to manually turn for it to lift. Apologies from us locals that you’ve not had much luck with these bridges. Love the vids and hope the bridge gets fixed soon.

Get Joe a real comfy blow up bed and some nose plugs and I doubt if you will move her again. William seems to have enjoyed the change with a bit more freedom to do his thing. WIlliam is going to have so many things not to forget he won't know where to start and as long as the weather is good camping is always fun. Camping cook book with a camping oven next up Joe?

Lovely little spot for camping 😀 Jo, I've heard of a cure for hay fever, not sure which is worse though!! Anyway, I did Google it up and apparently, if you stick yourself into stringing nettles to get a few stings, it can if not cure, delay the symptoms for some time. Good luck with that and please let us know if it works. 💜😯😀

Trees falling can be dangerous, to be sure, but there is one more likely and far more dangerous event. Boat fire. I watched a video last winter of narrowboaters seeing a nearby boat afire. Nobody was hurt, and the community came together to help the victims.

Hi I live near Buggy basin, my dad had followed you three for so long he sadly passed away in January so didn’t get to see you guys arrive in bugsworth. My Mum told me today that she was really upset because she watched this video and you only left two weeks ago. But it looks like you haven’t been able to move far, is there any chance you’re still around so I can surprise her with meeting you all as it would mean the world to her after Dad passing. She is also purchasing the new cake book as she loves to bake too 😊

Another wonderful video of a beautiful family. Vic, if you don't mind my saying, it's great that you're wearing a bike helmet but its strap could use a couple of adjustments. It is so loose that, in the unfortunate event of a tumble, it might fly off exactly at the time when you most need it to protect your head, so needs to be tightened. A good test is, if you open your mouth wide and you feel the helmet move on your head, the strap is as taut as it needs to be. Also, if it's like American helmets, there is a little triangle-shaped buckle that looks as if it's riding under your chin at the moment that you need to slide up the strap until it's just under your ear. I hope you don't mind such a nit-picky comment, but I want you all to be as safe as possible on those wonderful bike rides! Cheers, cafe family!

Tent camping looked like a good time aside from the hay fever. I also enjoy seeing you three bicycling because I commute that way. My three year old daughter loves to ride along with me. Hopefully that bridge issue was remedied. Sending my best wishes to your family...take care.

What a pickle you're in, although you both seem to take everything in your stride, nothing seems to faze either of you. Just been reading about the lift bridge, hopefully it can be fixed before too long. Glad you enjoyed your camping trip, couldn't work out where it was, but it looked lovely. Easy way to tell difference, Goats tails go upwards, whereas sheep tails go downwards.

Feel your pain; misread the CRT update and ended up stopping just short of the bridge, then reversed for just under a mile through bridge 23 and 22 to the winding hole. Said hello to you moored up at Marple opposite the wharf n Friday on our way back to Adlington.

Good to see you wearing a bike helmet. I recommend making the straps tighter - you’re risking the helmet falling off during a crash.

Goat's tails go up, Sheep's tails hang down. That's really the only firm difference.

Excellent info, I was going to say it’s the eyes, goats eyes are (mostly) very different from sheep’s eyes, but it’s not always a practical means of identification. Especially as they are usually either too far away, or moving away from you. In which case their tails would be clearly visible, even from a distance. Thanks so much for sharing this tip. I will now be pleasingly, and forever confident when identifying/distinguishing goats 🐐 from sheep 🐑. (perhaps even a little smug ha ha) Especially if i come across some of those older sheep breeds. Those leaner breeds that can look remarkably similar to goats. 🙂 🙂🐿🌈❤️ P.s honestly I’m tickled pink, I really love learning practical knowledge like this. Much appreciated.❤ Thanks again 🤣🤣🐿

I went to a fascinating talk by a forensic pathologist. Evidently different plants (and trees) produce pollen at different times of the day. (The link to pathology is that you can tell when someone died by looking at the pollen in their airway - you can even tell where they died by the different pollens).

We are at Furnace vale marina atm and was looking to go down the Macclesfield but with the bridge being stuck and the possibility of canal being closed we may be stuck ...hope you guys manage with boats either side of the bridge 😢
