You know, Messi and Ronaldo have the biggest amount of followers on all social media platforms (in fact, Ronaldo has the biggest following of anyone on Instagram). Additionally, Football is by far the biggest sport in the world with ~4 billion followers, having quite a huge margin on every other sport (#2 is cricket with 2.2 billion... almost half), so their reach definitely extends even further than social media (as not everybody likes using social media or even the Internet). It can be argued that, indeed, both are the biggest celebrities on Earth right now. Many feats back that up, e.g. highest-paid athletes multiple times, most followers on social media (as aforementioned), Ronaldo caused Cola to lose billions instantly last year after removing a coke bottle, 2 billion watched the World Cup 2022 final because of Messi, even farmers in Nepal or Papua New Guinea know them and so on. Hell, frickin' Obama congratulated Messi on Twitter. Also, look at this video. If you make other FAMOUS PEOPLE look like fanboys/fangirls to you (like in this video), then that speaks volumes. Yeah, Messi and Ronaldo have transcended their sport, just like Michael Jordan or Muhammad Ali once.

I like the video, but you have to realize that many of your viewers, even though they like soccer, don't always recognize the players, especially those from previous decades. Adding captions with players' names would've been nice. I get the impression that most active players are so engrossed in soccer and their families that some of them are pretty hazy about the world-renown celebrities they meet.
