Whether you love or hate them, we can’t deny that the police have saved
countless lives, whether it’s from dangerous figures or unsafe places. Of course, there have
also been numerous moments when officers have saved people at the very last moment,
and this video features all sorts of frightening scenarios like that.

Weird question. Has there been any research into what Narcan does to someone long term? An EMT friend had a shift where he used Narcan 3x on the SAME PERSON in an 8-hour shift. Does that have some kind of effect on people?

He was having a panic attack, caused by the fear of what fentanyl can do. There's been so many professionals who deal with fentanyl on the cellular level that have said this is impossible. I understand being scared, it's a terrifying drug to deal with, but be honest in what it is.

I have a hard time believing this was strictly a psychological response. You can actually hear the deputy take a deep breath about a minute after the narcan was administered. Pure fentanyl is lethal in the most minor amounts, I deal with it day In and day out not only as a paramedic but as a police officer as well. This incident is 100% plausible.

@@bsoz9759 long term no. It only last 60mins which is why they bring you to the hospital in case you go under again and have to administer another. It stops the opioid from connecting to your receptors. My first od they had to administer Narcan to me three times. It just sends you into rapid withdrawal. Side affects are like horrible nausea, headaches, etc. Just like if you were withdrawing.

@@protonjinx You have a good point... only when applied to certain situations. Do you really think it would've been a better idea for the chief to send in a rookie to just wade around down there, probably unaware of what to even do and unable to think clear enough in that stressful situation? Oh no, you mean sending *multiple* down, because that's more "efficient", right? Especially with a limited amount of rope that can probably only handle one person... I have heard from leaders themselves, "I wouldn't make one of my guys do something I wouldn't do myself," as in not letting the people they're leading risk their own lives and instead putting themselves on the line. I think it's pretty objective that he made a good call, he was able to handle it and he knew that, and his officers were supporting him on the way.

I've never been through CPR (on the receiving end, that is) but I can imagine. When I was 15ish, they gave us a mandatory course (I think it was one or two hours) on CPR and the heimlich manoeuvre and maybe a couple of other things, and they had like 10 CPR dummies with disposable rubber mouth sheets. The woman who was helping out said that during CPR, if you feel like you've broken the person's ribs or sternum, you're probably on the right track (I may be misremembering though lol)

Police officers (in general) are the BEST! I know that many folks gave us in the ER credit for saving folks, but the officers were there first. Without them, we'd save hundreds of fewer lives. They put their literal lives on the line every day. One can't ever predict what will happen, even when conducting the most routine traffic stop. These guys aren't fearless. They're BRAVE. Most only ever have the best interest of the community and individual lives in mind when they bravely do their job. They're not fearless, they're brave, and that makes them heroes. Much love always! Having worked ER/Trauma, I see what these brave men and women do every day, all day. We wouldn't have been able to do our jobs had they not done theirs. Our work was done in a controlled environment with a team that had extensive training. Their job was done in complete chaos with a team that was trained, but you can't train for everything. Every situation is different and there is no training that can prepare them for every situation. They're out there by themselves or with a partner, and they have to do what the situation calls for when it calls for it. NO script. NO "standard protocol". They just do and then we can do because they did whatever was appropriate at the time. Cops are heroes in my book.

Thank you for this awesome video! In my stupid youth when I knew I was immortal, I experimented with pretty much everything you can think of. I was never a full-blown addict or anything; and I pity those who are. But, here I am thirty years later watching this and absolutely mind-blown by the first video. Blues weren't around when I was a kid. That poor officer overdosing just from that minute level of exposure is absolutely nightmare fuel. I hear all the time about this person or that person caught with anything from grams to pounds. I thought of it like oxy or perc. You could go through a lot of pills in a very short amount of time and easily survive (or puke them back up). And here this officer nearly died just from being exposed to some residual dust. That is horrifying. Finally I begin to understand just how deadly that stuff really is. And there was kid stuff in that car! I will likely have nightmares thinking of those poor children. I pray they are somewhere safe and will never have to be exposed to that crap ever again.

The other thing that people don't understand about Narcan is that it wears off a LOT faster than the opiate, which is why the officer needed a 4th dose. IV Narcan can bring an intubated overdose person up to sitting upright, pulling out the tube, in seconds. But about 30 minutes to an hour later, they may need another dose. Opiates can last 4-12 hours depending on which opiate it is. Ideally, folks need to stay for observation for at least 12 hours, but addicts tend to sign themselves out within the first hour. It's not illegal to be high, only to possess the things to get high. That means, once awake, the patient can sign themselves out. In the officer's case, he will likely be under observation for 12-24 hours as he not an addict.

I think people who hate or disrespect cops, really people in general tend to forget what all cops do. They're not just running around shooting innocent unarmed people 🙄. They save lives. They prevent lives from being taken, they protect battered women, and men, they run straight to danger, selflessly, to help and protect people, putting their lives on the line, literally, with some never making it back home. They don't deserve the crap they get. There are bad apples in every field, they just highlight bad cops the most. The fact is most law enforcement are great people, just trying to help. I wish they would show more stuff like this to remind us all how valuable these people are to us. I don't want to live in a place without law enforcement. I just don't.

I completely agree. When held accountable and to the same standards of the general population, especially in cases with blatant misconduct, negligence, or abuse of power. Humans make mistakes. Sometimes the wrong people become officers or the Department closes ranks to protect their own. But to literally be at the front lines of both the worst parts of ourselves and worst case scenarios, it shows strength and discipline to serve as law enforcement.

The poor cop who breathed in Fentanyl while searching a druggies vehicle is just heartwrenching, his buddy was right there every step of the way. Bloody brilliant job. Well done to Duputy Crane and all med staff. Dave you beat it with a little help from your partner.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Every cop in here is a hero. They could have treated Robert a little nicer though, not that they didn't, they saved his life and didn't press charges. They didn't know whether or not he was on some type of psychedelic though, which would've been terrifying and possibly could lead to pychosis if you send their trip in a terrifying direction. Interrogating, yelling, and being condescending to someone who is barely conscious of the physical world, isn't the brightest idea, if you're actually trying to help. They weren't really bad about it here, but other cops tend to be more worried about confirming the legal problems before saving them. Sometimes I suspect cops try to purposely perturb high people, because they know they'll act up if they give them a little push in the wrong direction, just a theory, they can be a little biased when it comes to "druggies." These cops were obviously just trying to figure out what he took and keep him talking, so they could save him, but things can be very misinterpreted while on different kinds of substances. It should be pretty obvious that the intoxicated person can't properly communicate when being dragged through unknowable worlds. Cops will be seen as a threat by intoxicated people, that causes fear in intoxicated people, which the cops will see as a threat. A simple miscommunication that's quite easily avoidable, if you try to understand, which you can't, if you've never been intoxicated to that extent. You don't even need to experience it to understand; just read a trip report on Datura or Bromo-Dragonfly and you'll know atleast a little more to be able to talk down and help these people. Most people just want the experience to end, and they'll learn their lesson to never do it again, the experience is enough, you don't need to make it any worse or nag them untill they come down. Nag them after.

Sending everybody love, hugs and prayers for a complete physical and emotional recovery of the fear of drowning bless you one and all who helped save these young people. When we were young, some of us tend to do things that are not very bright, but thank the good Lord, and all of these rescuers gave these young men a new outlook on life. May everybody recover, including the fireman, the policeman and bless those ladies who gave them towels.

Fentanel doesn't affect people just by touch, lol. It's already been proven that most of those cases are serious panic attacks. You would have to eat a lot of it for it to do anything.

@@randomfan4521 you're on KZfaq. Look up people falling unconscious and stops breathing after opening a large amount of Fentanyl. The particles you don't see become air bourne. When people who nhage never been around opiates breath in those particulars, it's like a clean person shooting 10X their first dose of heroin! Or someone eating 10 percs or 10 80's for the very first time. So it's not the touching. It's the unknown inhalation that kills them. Even if you're an opiate user, if Fentanyl isn't packaged tightly, you can unknownly inhale enough to kill you! It happens all day, everyday Everywhere! I hope you understand and take it more seriously. 🙏

I don’t understand how people think the Fentanyl ODs are fake. Do they really think that all these officers are actually this good at acting and that all the other cops and rescue workers are just in on it or can’t actually tell if the victim was faking? And what would be the pay off for setting up this elaborate charade?

The cop in the second to last clip in Columbus was more worried about trying to find something to charge him with than saving his life. Telling him not to kick and relax while the guy is clearly in shock. He was ready to jump at any excuse to tackle and cuff the guy. Also searching the room. He didn't give a shit about that mans life.
