The invasion is actually meant to have happened in 2150. I'm guessing that Four said the year 2000 to try to prevent the Daleks from successfully averting their failure in that invasion.

That one is "Genesis of the Daleks", probably the best classic story. Highly recommended.

I believe that was the contributing factor leading to The First Doctor’s body ‘wearing a bit thin’ and led to his regeneration!

It’s on Tubi for free but they don’t have a lot of the first and second doctors as they were missing episodes but all episodes of the other doctors

I definitely feel like I've seen Tom Baker do it, and I can think of one specific example where David Tennant did it.

This was only their second appearance. It took time for the iconic Dalek scream to take shape.

@@PenneySounds every dalek story chronologically until "evil of the daleks" sort of follow directly from the other This is the timeline of events that i put together after watching all those serials: after the failed invasion on earth they also failed in their revenge during "the chase", the theft and destruction of their time machine left them without taranium, their empire weakened as seen when during "mission the unknown" it was briefly mentioned that humans actually survived another invasion in the 31st century and it took them 500 years to recover, during that time, mavic chen negotiated with them offering the taranium they needed for their "master plan", they grew in power again by the year 4000 and planned to attack earth again this time using their acquired taranium to power the time destructor, the doctor, steven and sara foiled this plan but the TD went off, killing everything in the planet except for the doctor (altho it aged him) and steven who was in the TARDIS (After reading the wiki article it seems some daleks survived the aging of the time destructor and it actually gets brought up in a series 7 storyline called asylum of the daleks, another mention comes in genesis, the doctor tells davros the war that devasted the daleks was in space year 17000, this if from the wiki im still not there yet) after an extended period of losing ground the plot of "evil of the daleks" happens, with their intent to undo everything that happened but the doctor tricked them into having a civil war that seemengly killed all of them. There is a lot of info told in future serials that i havent watched yet and in audios/novels but i ignored it to not get spoiled and to not make this comment longer than it already is lol

Some of the continuity in the early Dalek stories is kind of confusing

@@PenneySounds some like the first one are in the far future or others like power are standalone to show us what they are capable of

@@PenneySoundsEarth in series 4: moves to another part of the galaxy. Daleks fly everywhere. Literally all of the Doctor's companions after series 4: "I don't believe in Aliens. Daleks - what is it anyway?"

@@xperson838 The one about the new Companions not believing in aliens is explained in Series 5. In Flesh & Stone, The Doctor explains that the Crack rewrites history and anytime Aliens have invaded Earth in the first four series, Humanity forgot about it due to their memories being wiped. The only exceptions are people who have directly interacted with the Doctor in the past such as UNIT & Past Companions.

It definitely has pacing issues

The daleks in that particular story do tend to speak reeeally slowly and very much like robots, thankfully as the 60s went on they spoke faster and more like they do in general
