Dwyane Wade was highly praised for almost single-handedly defeating the Mavericks in the 2006 NBA Finals.During the playoffs, Wade suffered from poor health and even played on an intravenous drip during games. Wade in that game was compared to Michael Jordan, who played great in Game 5 of the 1997 Finals despite suffering from food poisoning.

here's my 2006 finals story: d-wade is my all-time favorite miami heat player, and i was rooting for them throughout the playoffs... and those white-toe converse wade 1s are my all-time favorite basketball shoes... when the finals came around, my friends and i made a bet as to who would win... everyone else bet on dallas, and after the first two games, my friends were like "might as well pay us now, the heat will not recover from this..." to be honest, i was kind of feeling defeated, but after they won game 3, i was like "wait a minute, maybe they can do this..." and they did do it... to close the story out, the week after the finals, i came to school wearing those wade 1s sponsored by the miami heat helping me collect my winnings...

I remember this series so clearly. Dwyane Wade is one of the top five best shooting guards of all time, but watching him at free throw practice for the fourth quarter of Game 3 and then the last two straight games did not feel like I was watching some legendary Finals performance. History won't remember it that way apparently, especially when advanced analytics absolutely loved his performance. I know Wade did a lot defensively, but putting up a lot of points without incurring field goals attempted or even time on the clock is a great way to beef up your own efficiency.

When I was still around 8 years old about to turn 9 on September, when we won our first title it brought joy and celebration in the city of Miami. I will forever not forgive Lebron for that 2011 meltdown. D-Wade was the best player overall in the 2011 Finals, I respect the Mavs on their run that year, but lets be real, Lebron can average at least 15 PPG and the Heat would've won the Finals and would've give Wade Finals MVP for the second time in his career.

All I can say it was the greatest moment of our life, at winning the 2006 NBA Finals For the First Time Of Our Lives even though we will have some conspiracy, but nobody cares it's our first title and we earned it

@@weswith360s Well, Games 1 and 4 brought Dirk's FG% way down. He was actually really good throughout the rest of the series. Dirk shot 45% in Game 3 but Wade got 18 FTs. Dirk shot 42% in Game 5 but Wade got 25 FTs. Dirk shot 45% in Game 6 but Wade got another 21 FTs. All those games were won by the Heat by 3 points or less. So yeah, Wade getting those FTs won them the series.
@weswith360s
@weswith360s 7 ай бұрын
@@THE_BEAR_JEWThere were definitely a few egregious calls, but Wade was attacking relentlessly which puts a lot of pressure on the refs. Most of the FTs were legit. The Mavs choked all of the close losses regardless of the reffing as well. Game 3: Dirk missed FT. Game 5: Dirk missed FT, Howard using their last time out in-between Wade FTs. Game 6: Dirk and Terry shoot a combined 0/11 in the 4th, Dirk turnover at the end.
@THE_BEAR_JEW
@THE_BEAR_JEW 7 ай бұрын
@@weswith360s I get what you're saying but, Shaq was getting intentionally fouled for an entire series when he set the record. Wade breaking should never have happened and even one bad foul call was the difference in each of the 3 losses at the tail end of the series. I don't subscribe to the idea of blaming the victim. The Mavs shouldn't be forced to hit more of their shots to make up the difference on 25 FTs. That's insanity. Sure, we can cherry pick Dirk not being able to hit shots in a 4th Quarter, but overall, he still hit 45% of his shots in Game 6. That's a great game that's lost because Wade got gifted so many FTs.

Nah bro honestly, I say this with zero bias.. I can't help but feel bad for Dirk and the Mavs watching this film.. this series was rigged straight up. No one likes unfair competition. This series is like a pickup game where one team controls the game and makes all the calls. (If you're up 1 with 15 seconds or less to go... Wade is going to the line with a chance to take the lead.. every single time)

@JudgementDayonTop we could say that for Iverson, Ray Allen, Brandon Roy Etc.... Injured, Bad roster. Those are not excuses. I would add Kobe but he played through Injury with a Bad roster.

Great video! D Wade was incredible, but the foul/FT disparity was too egregious to gloss over haha I’m a lifelong Spurs fan, and even I can’t ignore how one-sided the officiating was. I know it hurts the narrative, though, so I understand the need to downplay how egregious it really was.
