When Fashion Meets Motoring: The Ultra Rare 80s Jaguar XJS-C Burberry Edition | Review/Buying Guide

This one is a long one, but when you have the keys to a rare Burberry Jaguar XJS-C, there's just so much to say.
Join me, as I take this rare classic for a drive and talk you through what it's like to get behind the wheel of a car that blends two British icons, Jaguar and Burberry. This Silver Sand coloured XJS-C 3.6 is one of just two examples ever produced by Jaguar for the legendary Burberry fashion house in mid-1980s and was heavily used in some of their most famous marketing campaigns. We will take a look at what makes the XJS-C that little bit different to other XJS models and why the they are fast becoming an appreciating modern classic. As ever, we'll also cover what to look out for when buying (including the the v12 models) and crucially what you should pay in today's market.

Having owned a 77 coupe, 84 Xjsc 3.6 manual and an 89 v12 convertible plus a 94 XJR....the 6cyl manual felt as chuckable as an MGB, with the absence of weight up front making it so much more nimble. The v12 is a thing of beauty and the 77 coupe was awesome as the gearing was perfect, the later HE was way overgeared. My personal dream is to have a cabriolet, 5 spd manual, supercharged v8, us lights, 4 seat conversion

We did what the car was designed for back in 1985 and took our V12 from Essex to South of France and what a memorable trip, fast, agile and quite. we were also at Le Mans for the Jaguar 1-2 win and all the locals sticking two fingers up at us. chuckle...what salad days.

The first XJ-SC was produced in 1982, 5 in total. We know at least one this 4 cars was registrated to the owner in 1982, 8 dec. All V12-models was originally delivered with an automatic gearchange, but the 3.6 version was delivered with both manual and automatic. In fact a 3,6 XJ-SC with an automatic gearchange is actutally rare since only 106 was produced. To sum up, of 5013 total produced 1148 had a 3,6 6 sylinder and 3865 had the 5,3 l V 12 engine

I HAVE 87 XJSC 12CYL WHITE/BLUE SAME AS SHOWN IN FL. HAVE OWNED SINCE 06...ALWAYS GETS COMPLIMENTS WHEN I TAKE HER OUT. A TRUE JEM

A feature of the aj-sc reviewers seem to mis is the safety of the Targa roof. Mine is a 83 with manual box, quad headlights, and antelope colour. Beautiful car to drive and eccomical as far as jags go 😀

As I understand it, the XJSC was only made mostly one year and that was 1988. That's the year XJSC I have. The interior relies heavily on plastic accoutrements.

XJS-C production ran from 1983-1988 and was then replaced by the XJS Convertible. The interior is a lovely place to be but as synonymous with all Jaguars of the 70s/80s and 90s the cabin is a mixture of wonderful leather, wood veneer and plastic BL switches.

I'm into aviation myself. This Jaguar V-12 provides me with the complexity I find myself desiring! One can't possibly have a single Jag, so I also have the XK-120 roadster. Quite a few aircraft owners I find possess a Jaguar. British cars are so desirable.

WAS TOLD ALL XJSC SENT TO N.AMERICIA FROM LATE 86- LATE 87 WERE SPECIAL ORDER...NONE WERE SENT TO DEALERS TO SELL OFF LOT

Laddy one must understand....1987 North America...the xjsc was limited to pre ordered..was not a cheap purchase.....early 88 jag went to the TOTAL RAG TOP...IN

This was supposed to be a comparison between this Jag and the Merc SL, if that’s the case then you should have been fair to shoot both videos in the same surroundings, but to glorify the SL in the beautiful daylight country side with the roof off, where as with the Jag you shot her Video in a very awful dull night time dark surroundings, it wasn’t fair at all

This isn't an SL/XJS-C comparison video and was shot several months after the R107 SL video (summer/autumn) hence the obvious weather and lighting differences. Although, both were filmed on the exact same roads/locations.
