Gary Payton explains to Draymond how the 2006 Heat overcame their early-season struggles once The Glove told Shaq to take a backseat to Dwyane Wade, and how this power shift helped propel Miami to a championship on the back of one of the greatest individual performances in NBA Finals history.

Shaq was still the only player who got doubled teamed in that series so that’s false since for example Shaq was often tripled teamed in 2000-2002. Can’t just look at raw numbers “The Mavericks’ strategy has been to smother Shaq with double-team defense as soon as he gets the ball, with 7-foot, 280- pound DeSagana Diop or 6-11, 265-pound Erick Dampier playing behind him and whoever is closest front him. In some cases that is Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki, another 7-footer.”

As one who is not a Warriors or Draymond fan, I want to give him major props for everything he said in this clip. Being a player who has won multiple championships, I imagine it isn’t always easy to maintain some level of humility. He’s showing a player can win at the highest possible level while still showing love and respect to peers who have yet to do so, through understanding a much fuller picture of what it takes to win a championship. I respect that greatly, Draymond!

This the most sense I've ever heard Green speak...especially hard in the 1980s when the Lakers went to 8 Championship in the decade while out East it was Boston, Philly and Detroit, toss in the Rockets from the West and these were the only 5 teams to play for Championship in the 1980s, if you weren't on the rosters of any of these teams like the Great Bernard King and many other players, you'd watch finals games like I did, as a spectator only.

@@GodInHisPrime Your talking about one season or series as if those stats were permanent. I said KB was coming into his own - but eventually he became better than Shaq - he was younger and Shaq was aging.

Truth of the matter the Lakers have a short window with this cast like seriously, Carmelo, Bradley, dwight, etc they got couple new faces rookies but if they don't win a chip 22, 23 etc they might night have another opportunity, LeBron ain't getting no younger

I thought DWade was the best in the world for a period. Injuries shortened prime unfortunately. Still my favorite player to watch.

Why would that even be a discussion. Shaq was not touching Wade talent wise at that time.

DWade was the most dominant player the game has ever witnessed not Lebron or anyone else respectfully. He was being compared to Jordan and Kobe for a reason. Great defenders couldn’t guard him and he locked up all. The ECF finals against the pistons must of been rigged because he had his way with them also. Wade is underrated as it gets. His whole career was just brilliant basketball. He is the only player I’ve ever seen to this day be able to just completely take over. Dallas had no answer for Wade and paid for it. Every team had a problem with Wades masterful game. Wade is the true GOAT when it comes to overall leadership and skill set. High IQ and extremely focused. Big feet and hands, strong legs and a 235lb frame, solid as an Ox. If the hype of Lebron wasn’t there we would be talking about DWade today even more than we do.

I wouldn't even say the ECF was rigged,he just got hurt in 05. He dominated the pistons both yrs but had he been healthy to finish them off i think they would've had a better chance against the spurs in 05. Prob is he did get injured & because of it he came back hungry & got the chip. He was special

And the most mind blowing fact... Man did it all on one leg, because some doctor decided to take out his meniscus in college. Tremendous when he had his athleticism, and aged like fine wine (shout out to Wade's wine as well, it's actually pretty solid) once that started to wane.

Presti is the best. So he got cp3 on the low, and cp3 taught sga and got to playoffs, then traded cp3 for like 8 picks and 1 player. Unbelievable
