When Harry Met Sally, in my humble opinion, is the greatest romantic comedy of all time. Largely due to its unorthodox approach, the film tackles the development of a relationship in the most realistic approach expanding into an entire journey over many years instead of taking the easy route like many in the genre, skipping from A to Z over the runtime while glossing over the important development and character growth needed to make the story believable. In this video essay, all dynamics and plot subversions are broken down, I have plenty of opportunities to gush over my love for the film, and in the end, you will find out just exactly why the unorthodox nature of When Harry Met Sally works in the best way possible.
For this month's Director Project, myself and fellow creators came together to tackle the works of famous screenwriter/director Nora Ephron. While initially, the point is to discuss her work in the director's chair, I decided I had to break the mold and discuss possibly her best film, written by her but directed by Rob Reiner.
