@cosmic59342 жыл бұрын
wait stupid question, why does it turn into carbon when broken down? doesn't most things do that aswell?
@_ninthRing_2 жыл бұрын
@@cosmic5934 Plastics (Polymers) are made of long chain Hydrocarbons (long strings of Carbon atoms, with Hydrogen atoms attached either side), along with atoms of things like Sulfur, Oxygen, Nitrogen & Silicon added in literally thousands of shapes & configurations - almost all manufactured from petroleum byproducts (short chain Hydrocarbons). To make a Polymer go from an insulator to a conductor, it just needs to be heated to the point where it becomes a plasma, stripping off the Electrons from the Carbon Nuclei, leaving the Electrons free to flow & complete the electrical circuit. ~ ~ ~ Nope, there are a lot of Elements on the Periodic Table which aren't Carbon. (Though it is the essential building block of every single living thing, which may be the source of your confusion.)
