I run one due to having a hybrid car. Don't have to worry about damage to the hybrid system or the hybrid battery. When the car is running it charges the reserve batteries at 14.4. It also keeps the car from throwing codes due to the stress of the system showing too much amp drain from the system running.

The best time to run a battery isolator is when you are running a lead acid battery AKA standard starter battery under your hood and you are running Lithium or AMG batteries in the trunk due to the fact that they like to fight over polarity and voltage when they are ran in conjunction with each other without some kind of break up when they are just sitting idle with no charge being added into them or drain

Your only as good as the worst battery in your setup. This is true with anything that uses batteries.

One more thing that should be mentioned here is if you do play your system till it drains your batteries, dont rely on your alternator to recharge them. Use a charger.

I have 2 battery 1 in the front and 2 in the back 1 Xs power 6500 and a kinetic 2400 so I added a fuse on the 0 Gauge that comes out from the 1st battery and then I added a Isolator and a breaker switch for the 2 other battery currently getting 14.2v I run 2 15” sub 2 12” Mids 2 10” voice I’ve got 1-8k taramps bass 1-8k taramps HD 1-3k Stetson been doing fine but I’m going to switch to lithium. Gonna get some Deaf Bonce 3515 from D4S

I wouldnt play a system with the car off and not charging because I heard that low voltage can make the amps start to clip and can cause damage to your subs. Again this is what I heard. It's pretty much common sense that you want to supply a steady charge to the batteries as you use your system. It probably gets more critical the more intense your system is.

Here's a tricky question to a situation I am having and can't figure out. What would make car voltage spike when the stereo is playing full tilt and bass turned up? The voltage drops like normal and spikes to 15.6v plus instead of stopping back at the charge voltage of say 14.4. It only does it with rpm above 1000 and works normally at idle. I'm running a Mechman 370amp alt that has been tested and modified to one wire turn on by Mechman, Sundown Salt-2 on 2 DC Audio Level 3 10s and an Xs power D4800 under the hood of a 2015 Silverado. Could it be the amp?

Well... Battery isolator is a awesome idea, headache starts when you start thinking if you can mix types of batteries and how. Multiple batteries setup is expensive and no one wants to waste the money and wondering why my AGM or lithium are dead so quickly? Bad brand or quality? No . With isolator NEVER mix types of batteries, that's shortest explanation. If you wanna use lithium org AGM as a spare source, you need more intelligent second battery charger. Sorry, this is only stupid battery, but unfortunately some how become like a rocket since. Find a professional, pay money and have a happy life.
