Most randos dont understand how intelligent Kobe was. He was a student of the game, a master by the end of his career. Everyone else is looking at the game zoomed out, clapping and cheering. He made up for all that with sheer will, intensity, preparation, and hard work. His approach to the game and life was phenomenal. Kobe went 4/14 overall and 0/5 from 3 that night so it was rough, but he made up for it with his defense which was the difference between the Lakers losing or winning that night. @EbonKim3 ай бұрын
Only problem is the last game they played against each other (2015-2016), Warriors won 116 - 98 with Steph shooting 9-18 and 8-16 from 3PT. So, Steph must have worked on his shot against Kobe. However, Kobe and the Lakers in that same season won the two games before that, with Steph going 6-20 (1-10 3PT), and 10-21 (4-12 3PT; which still ain't bad). That was the season they went 73-9, so the Lakers beating them twice that season was pretty monumental. They also won the two games before that in the 2014-2015 season (when GSW went 67-15 for the season and winning the title), with Steph going 10-19 (5-9 3PT), and 10-19 (3-8). The stats for those 5 games, Steph averaged 9-19 (4-11 3PT), 8.2 Assists, 2.4 Turnovers, and 25.8 Points, which is still a great shooting percentage and assist-to-turnover ratio.

I'm no big baller but I'm an athlete and big in defensive play. Most shooters I've encountered, hate when u shadow them to a side, especially if they have a rhythm step. U set up on that side, and it's gon be a long night for em.
@Tb-gz4qt3 ай бұрын
Definitely, but a disadvantage about this is that you’re giving them an easy lane to get to the rim. Unless you trust your big man to lock down the paint (stopping all drives, making sure no one sneaks behind him for easy buckets and NO fouling) it’s almost impossible for most players to defend this way. Curry relies on his shooting too much and Kobe was a lockdown defender so it works for him, but all this really does is make curry slightly uncomfortable to most players (aka ineffective).
@kallanrodney-greene38203 ай бұрын
@@Tb-gz4qt yea for sure gives a line drive. That's where fundamentals come into play. Shuffle the feet instead of rossing em, use that forearm smartly to touch and redirect (move it asap ofc lol) and relish the physicality of banging with ur chest. You def gotta know your next 4 moves if you take that approach. Like u said, Kobe was lockdown so he knew if steph took off. He could cover and lead him right to the help side. I then got to watch MJ develop into the best on the league and win 6 championships so I have always been team Jordan. Kobe was clearly special but the more I hear about his work ethic and how he studied the game makes me see things differently. It's not that Kobe was the next Jordan, he was the first Kobe. He outworked everyone, knew more, and was more driven than anyone. Yes, Jordan is still my GOAT but Kobe is right up there. I love Kobe hes one of the players in the GOAT tier but the comments here are silly. After 2019, Steph ascended to another realm. Nobody, not even Kobe, MJ, Gary Payton, etc can stop any version Steph after 2019

My sentiments exactly. The idol worship gets in the way of objectivity. The greatest shooter ever is not getting shut down. Prime vs prime would be amazing to see because Kobe wouldn't be stopped either. But the idea Steph would just roll over and die is insane lmao

By 2019, I'm pretty sure Kobe had retired, though🤷🏿♂️

No doubt he'd be coaching an NBA team today if he was alive. RIP Mamba. Even as die hard Sacramento Kings fan. Kobe was him! Legends never die.

#KobeBryant didn't just play the game; he was the game. Not only did he play against his opponent, but he also studied his opponents. #Legendary 🏀

And then Steph AS A KILLA AS HE IS....fixed that flaw and became THE BOSTON KILLA IN 2022 . a team with the best defense in the entire year. With also the defensive player of the year on it. STEPHEN SCARY !

The more I hear about Kobe over the years, the more it sounds to me like he was actually the Batman of basketball.

Kobe was more far more than any other human being. Kobe discovered the key, used it to unlock all doors and humbly told us all what to do. Kobe was MIND.

The amount of stuff I’ve learned as a fan, watching KZfaq shorts of these greats talk about their game, makes me wonder how many secrets league players would actually learn if they watched, too.

Mentally Kobe was like Dennis Rodman he would study every player he encountered, this is the same thing Kobe would do. You play him the first time and you might get him but that second time he'll shut you down...

Kobe is smart... the way he win games is that, he study the opponents and then he adjust his game to shut down them and win the game.

There’s also a catch to that there’s also the pressure that he gives so not just anybody can do that to Stephen Curry. You also have to be a really good defender.

That defense on demur at the end was crazy😅😮😮 and I seen a video and kobe talking about how to do someone like that... taking away the one hand sitting and waiting on them to switch hands with the ball and swipe down

Kobe Bryant was a student of the game R-I-P Kobe if he wouldn't have passed he would have made a hell of a coach and R-I-P to his daughter and everyone who lost their life on that day 1-26-20 I remember the date because it was my bornday GOD BLESS ALL THE FAMILIES OF THOSE WHO LOST LOVE ONES 🙏

Kobe really was Batman bruh. What's curious to me is that Steph probably heard that and he started to work on that and now it doesn't matter where you stand, he is getting buckets. Very much like Kobe himself, bet he'd be proud.
