Lennox Lewis and Shannon Briggs put on one of the most memorable displays in heavyweight boxing on March 28, 1998. With the WBC and Lineal titles on the line... the pressure was on in this super-bout which was dubbed 'March Badness'.

I don't get why there's so many saying he don't get the respect he deserves. I don't know where the disagreement is coming from he's the best there ever was in the heavyweight division. I'm from America. In the northeast. Its unanimous around here. I know in the UK he's is king. In Europe he is king. Must be coming from other parts of my country. Can't see south of the border being anti Lewis cause they don't produce Heavy Weights. Maybe it's just that the people in England feel that he's jaded here in America. Not where I'm from!

I met Lennox Lewis one night during Caribana in Toronto Canada during the 90s and the guy was the nicest, mild mannered guy you could ever meet! I never knew Shannon Briggs (aka Mr. 'Let's Go Champ") ever fought Lennox Lewis until just now. Why do you think the crowd booed at the end of the fight ? He couldn't beat Vitali Klitschko who just stood there like a tough test. Someone with a bit of brains like Muhammad ali, Tyson fury atleast would've used a bit of foot work head movement to avoid punches. Klitschko can be excused that it was his style, but Lewis was supposedly the boxer of the two he just stood there and took bombs. Vitali was much better than people gave him credit for he never legitimately lost a fight. Always through unforeseen circumstances. I don't see any version of Lewis beating Vitali. He refused to fight Klitschko a second time after their fight got stopped due to a cut...a fight that was very much starting to go in Klitschko's direction. But mostly he was a victim of a lack of depth of talent in the heavyweight division at that time. Lewis wasn't exhausted, anyone who knows Lennox knows he can breeze through twelve rounds with ease. His style could be a bit deceiving at times, he had a habit of dropping his guard a lot on the break, making him look tired when he wasn't. He was once asked why he always did that, he said it was because it actually helped his arms not get tired, holding them up constantly tires them out quicker, so he let them hang whenever he could.

Lewis in his prime can stand toe to toe with the very best heavyweights throughout history. I’m not saying he beats them all but he gives a lot of them a hard night’s work. I think it's a 50/50 with Ali, Lewis smashes Frazier on sheer size, and goes life and death with Foreman.
