Can't really help you with multiplication, as that is pretty much self evident, but dividing by any number quickly is a matter of finding a similar multiple in the rough ballpark of what you want. E.g.: 1423 / 23 ; 1400 is a multiple of 140 which is a multiple of 20, and 20 is close to 23, so your answer should be less than 70; 1400 is also a multiple of 25, which is close to 23, so your answer can't be less than 56. Now you can either iterate through the easier multiples or apply a numeric solution, which is more universal. The halfway point between 56 and 70 is 63, 63 * 23 = 1449; since 1449 = 1423 + 26, we know that the closest multiple is 62.

@@Gabu_ I tried to follow your thought process but I still feel that it's too tedious, I don't feel worth it to calculate 1400/20 and 1400/25 first just to narrow down the answer to between 56 and 70. If I encounter this question, I will first multiply 23 by 100 to get it to the same order of magnitude (2300), then I divide by 2 to get it closer (1150), equivalent to 23×50. This number is still short of 250 from 1400, so I add another 230 (23×10) to it, and I am still short of 20, which is already less than 23. Lastly, I add back the one 23 subtracted from 1423 at the beginning, resulting in the answer: 50+10+1 = 61, with a remainder of 20.

I watched this and I had a little fun competing in the comment section, often land myself in top 10 3 and first. The trick is that, you can use numeracy to deduce it, you don’t always have to math it. Like 188:47, since there is no way it surpass 10, half is 235, next is 4. Or simply, any last number on the multiplication board with 7, only anything with 4 in the end multiply with 7 give the last result the number 8. Miko uses the official math method in school, and it is too slow for these type of games.

Well, this isn't the worse - the 4th level of the game involve 7 digits numbers.

i've read some math genius said something like strengthen your foundation(MDAS) and memorize formula and you're never feel lost in math so I tried strengthening my foundation but I found out it's not even built yet, it's still a miracle how I passed engineering and even passed licensure exam!

14=7×2, so you put that and divide by 7 and then by 2

Here's what I do: 14 * 20 = 280 14 * 30 = 420 therefore it's between these two the number is closer to 420, so I try to subtract multiples from the upper boundary, like 28 or 42 420 - 42 = 378 30 * 14 - 3 * 14 = *27* * 14 obv not gonna be the most optimal way, but that helps me at least.

My brain goes to the division tables that I know. So, 7*2=14, 7*5=35. Meaning 35/14=2.5, 350/14=25. 350 is only 28 away from 378, so the answer is 27. It seems a bit roundabout when written out, but it only takes a few seconds when I'm thinking through it. Identifying the easy relationship between 350 and 14 is the key to solving it quickly.

what do you mean? addition and substraction is on the same level of order even according to PEMDAS, so you go from left to right

you misunderstand order of operations. p e (md) (as). multiplication and division are done left to right with no discrepancy, then addition and subtraction are done left to right with no discrepancy. 14 minus 8 is 6 then add 8 is 14. you don't add first just because it's first in the acronym.

Well the mistake you commited is 14 - (8 + 8). If you take brackets, it will be 14 - (8 - 8) Even if you go from right to left, it's - 8 + 8, so it will still add upto 14 only. PEMDAS isn't even required here
