I've actually always liked that style of uniform(well, the ones that are more like muscle shirts, i.e. no sleeves, in stead of very short sleeves.) Back in 99, when I was playing on our freshman team, we all thought our uniforms sucked(especially as compared to the Varsity and JV teams who had white pinstriped uniforms.) Our coach, who was my English teacher, and was coaching for the first time(it was his first year teaching) agreed, and talked to the athletic director or whatever, and said we couldn't get new uniforms. Our coach asked us if we would be willing to buy(or have our parents buy) new uniforms, to which we pretty much all said yes, but the AD said no, we can't ask parents to do that, especially if there are kids/parents that can't afford it(which I understood.) So over the weekend, this kid who's dad was super rich was talking to him about it, and the dad offered to pay for the uniforms himself and donate them, to which the AD said, "awesome!" So we ended up getting those sleeveless uniforms. Home were white with dark maroon pinstripes and our maroon and gold logo on the left chest, and and maroon t-shirt with out mascot on the left sleeve, and our away uniforms were solid maroon with gold pinstripes, and the same maroon T-Shirt. And as crazy as this sounds, I swear to god those uniforms made us play better. I don't know if it was a confidence thing or what, but I know I felt more confident in those uniforms(especially when combined with all the maroon catching gear my dad had got me that summer.)
