It allows her to hear exactly what she wants specially when she's belting out those high notes. Having the monitor on, can damage her ears too.

No, it allows her to hear the ambient sound in the room which allows her to sing in tune. A lot of singers tend to sing sharp when they use in ears. Apart from that, in ear monitors are designed to protect your hearing!
