From the first time I saw "Pulp Fiction" in the theater, I've been pretty sure that Christopher Walken forgot his lines towards the end of his monologue about the watch. He holds up the watch and says "this watch," then freezes for about 8 seconds. He gets a deer-in-the-headlights look in his eyes, says "this watch" again, then completes the scene.

@Jaysthename3 ай бұрын
@@chicodalianis8004 Nice reference, although technically that wasn't a blooper. It's just that no one actually expected her to make that half-court shot. In fact, Ron Perlman nearly ruined the take with his effusive response, and they had to mute him or do some creative editing of some sort to be able to use the take, and even then, the camera didn't pan up high enough to capture the ball's entire trajectory in frame. @@jameswelch5636 Why? The movie was shot here and given our history under Soviet regime, vast majority of adults didn't even have a reason to know English at the time.
@jameswelch56363 ай бұрын
It's a multimillion dollar Hollywood production. Everything is planned out in meticulous detail because of immensely high cost of production and filming. Just think of the logistics involved in coordinating the transportation and feeding of all those extras on set that day of shooting alone. It's entirely implausible that there was no cue for the non-English speaking crowd to know when to start cheering. I suppose the director just forgot that little detail. Maybe they were all just hanging out that day with a few guys roaming around with handheld cameras hoping to get some authentic, candid crowd shots
@kamen423 ай бұрын
@@jameswelch5636 Look at the background before Bettany says "in the garden of turbulence". Some people already raise their hands to cheer, just to go "wait, ok, not yet". So there was definitely at least some confusion. But I guess it is completely impossible to screw up a cue. Something like that is much more important than... I don't know... making sure a gun isn't loaded so someone doesn't get shot! (Crow, Rust. Just in case you don't get the sarcasm) All kinds of mistakes happen all the time. Even in high budget movies.
@user-wm3bf7pi3u3 ай бұрын
@@kamen42 And low budget masterpieces, Monty Python and the Life of Brian there is a crowd scene where the extras didn't understand how to get the cue or even what the director wanted, so Terry J. said "Wight do what I do." I have a hard time believing that all those cuts were part of a single happy accident. I'm sure Addy could well have goaded the extras into cheering after a missed cue, but they definitely added a few extra shots and edited it up beautifully. Bettanay's moment of dismay at the silence and then sidelong glare out to Addy for help, and the panning shot of quietly frowning spectators, would surely have to been added as follow up shots and resequenced to make the joke have extra punch. I do agree you can see the extras begin to cheer and then tuck back when no one else joins in.
