A "midlife crisis" is a lie. This has become a label associated with a process that occurs when one spouse changes their own beliefs and values. This person may become a completely different person because whatever had the greatest influence over them has changed.
When your greatest influence changes, your belief system changes.
When your belief system changes, your value system changes.
When your value system changes, you become a completely different person.
If you or your spouse has changed in a way that has caused harm to the marriage, then this video is for you. You will learn how someone changes who they are (sometimes for the worse) and can eventually become a completely different person than the one you or your spouse fell in love with.
Join us as we discuss this in this special 4-part series of Relationship Radio.

Has your spouse become a different person? 🤔

My spouse has become someone I don't recognize! I didn't find out about the reason behind his behavior is a really bad drug!! He has been backslidden since around 2011 or 2012. We had a rough path, my Mom became really sick 2010 - Feb. 5th, 2011 & I was already so, so bitter, angry and now grieving!! He was very close with my Mom but he never acted like he was grieving but I became really depressed! So she passed away in 2011, and then his Dad passed away in 2012 and I'm pretty sure he began to dabble in this drug! So then in 2014 we lost our home, and not long after we moved his behaviors began to become physical once to our son!! Longer story short we separated for four years and reconciled. We have been back together for a little over TWO years and he has been having an affair for over a year of those two!!! He has agreed to stay until I am approved for SSI bc I am not physically able to work and support myself!!! But my goodness what a ride & to be SICK through all of this has been a great challenge!!

What if the person has not been authentic and has lied/portrayed a person you would desire based on your own belief/moral system just to keep you…so a person who is finally revealed their true selfs through the discovery of an affair…deep stuff.

Great explanation of how other’s influence (one person or many) over one partner in the marriage can influence that partner’s belief system, ultimately leading to changes within the marriage relationship. I appreciate this being put into such a clear, concise conversation. This articulates well what I noticed in my own marriage: Other people’s influence over my spouse (who replaced my position of influence within the marriage) eventually caused me to feel that my partner was making decisions that were forcing me to live a life I hadn’t chosen. The situation eventually became so toxic (chronically toxic, stressful living environment) that I noticed my own self eventually changing due to the lack of influence and control over my own life. (Science shows that chronic stress causes neurological changes). Out of the confusion and inability to bring this into my partner’s awareness, I felt I had to leave for my own mental health. What do you advise for extreme situations where there is potentially abuse when one of the partners has changed dramatically? Thanks for the discussion!

Bottom line, we have all been given FREE WILL! & through out our lives & experiences have the right to make the right or wrong decisions regardless of the outside influences. will we choose right or wrong?that is the question!!!
@MarriageHelper
@MarriageHelper Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! However, when someone changes their beliefs and values, their idea of what is "right or wrong" changes too. Thus, making a wrong decision may look like the right one if they stop living in line with their beliefs and values. Thanks for commenting friend!

@@MarriageHelper Ok, so I am trying to understand. Their beliefs have changed. they make choices(right or wrong)& inflict pain & consequences from those choices. Does that change in beliefs make their choices excusable??

Hi my wife wants to seperate but I don’t or at least didn’t ! I’ve been working on my pies and it has helped me tremendously,and wife and our kids are still under the same roof. But with her behaviours (out late, socialising into early hours, not giving me any love, distant etc) I am now thinking just let her go and separate. I hold my tongue even though internally I’m wanting to tell her some home truths that will cause arguments and push her further away.Separating our kids and financial pressures is a worry but I feel like me tip toeing around her trying to keep her sweet is also frustrating me. I feel that im fighting a lost battle trying to get relationship back to a healthy place. I feel that I’m the only one that wants to keep our marriage but at times I feel like giving up. As a side note, thanks for your content it’s been a really good resource for me during this difficult time

Polyamory is what's right it has to be. I have been told the lie th heart they're monogamous for so long only to find out I was the only one living as such. Every single relationship, always the same pattern. But it still hurts to come to this realization...
