When should you use 把 (bǎ)? When should you NOT? | HSK 3 Chinese grammar

Some additional use cases of 把 (for HSK 3) that I didn't mention in the video:
(1) If the location, direction, or result is placed before the verb:
别把你的东西在学校卖。Don't vend your stuff at school. (location 在学校 placed before 卖)
把书往书包里放。Put books into the bag. (direction 往书包里 placed before 放)
把他往死里打。Beat him to death. (result/direction 往死里 placed before 打)
(2) If the verb is reduplicated (VV)
把房间打扫打扫。Clean the room. (打扫 is reduplicated)
(3) If the verb is has an "internal result complement":
把书打开。 (in the verb 打开, 开 is the result complement of 打)
把成绩提高。(in the verb 提高, 高 is a result complement of 提)
把作业完成。(in the verb 完成, 成 is a result complement of 完?)
把结果公开。(in the verb 公开, 开 is a result complement of 公?)
把问题解决。(in the verb 解决, 决 is a result complement of 解?)

Thank you!! Its kind of weird because I have been thinking a couple of days that I need to look in to this 'ba' structure. Because in my reading practices I see it a lot. And then there are many 'ba' so I made it a point to start looking and understanding them. Today I open my youtube, and what pops up as one of the first videos I see? this video! So thank you for reading my mind. And I am getting heart palpitations thinking about all the other usages in the other levels.....

That's the best explanation I have seen of how to use 吧in a sentence...and I've watched and read a few. I feel like I understand it better now and have the confidence to give it a try. Language learners shouldn't get too hung up on making mistakes of course, but I'm more inclined to try out 吧sentences now, knowing that I have a better than even chance of getting it right.

谢谢！I think this will help me study better. I found knowing when and how to add 把 to a sentence tricky. I will watch this again as I continue to study sentences that could contain 把. It will also help me to understand more of the dramas I watch. I hear 把 a lot.

use BA to move the object in front of the verb, in order to make the room after the verb for something else to put there. Post Verb is a information highlighted spot.

I think the best way to learn this for anglos might simply be repetition drills using the correct form till they acquire the structure implicitly. there's a parallel structure to this in German as there is also for the seperable verbs, though I'm still working it out in my own brain. Stell mal dieses buch auf dem Tisch herauf. We probably don't need more than HSK 3 for Ba structure tbh we will never write Chinese properly anyway but must understand it.

So 把书放在桌子上 means "put THE book on the table" because the 把-object needs to be definite. What if I want to say: "put A book on the table" (where the object is indefinite) ?? Then 把一本书放在桌子上 would be wrong ?? Actually seems okay to me. How else could we say it ?? I think that 放一本书在桌子上 would definitely be wrong, because a Chinese verb cannot be followed by both an object (一本书) and its "disposition" (在桌子上). Perhaps 在桌子上放一本书 might be okay. But it seems unnatural to me, because 放在 usually occurs together as a unit.

Tones are still important. Listen to more authentic audio and get the sense of how the tones are actually pronounced in natural speech.
